Yes. If that is the case, then for those who have achieved complete purity, will it not become a sin? How do those who have achieved complete purity conduct themselves? This is the question called 'not asking' in the world. Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva reported: World Honored One, worldly people have also not lived by eating their own flesh for a long time. The World Honored One said: Whatever worldly people say that is in accordance with the Buddha's words should be regarded entirely as the Buddha's words. Mañjuśrī, worldly people also speak of liberation, but they do not have liberation. Only the World Honored One's teachings have liberation. They also have renunciation, but their renunciation is not true renunciation. Only the World Honored One's teachings have true renunciation. Worldly people also say that eating meat is eating oneself, but they do not eat their own flesh. Only the World Honored One's teachings are certain to be eating one's own flesh. Mañjuśrī, do you want to hear that all the wonderful things in the world come from this sutra? Reported: World Honored One, I want to hear. The World Honored One said: Mañjuśrī, in the past, before countless kalpas, even more countless than countless kalpas, even more vast than vast kalpas, even more inconceivable than inconceivable kalpas, at that time, there was a Tathagata named Kośānta-bhadra who appeared in this city in the world. At that time, there were no wonderful things, not even the name of wonderful things. Sentient beings became Mahayana practitioners, and sentient beings became very happy. At that time, that Tathagata lived in this world for many years and then completely passed into nirvana. The teachings of complete nirvana also existed for many years. When the true Dharma declined, when the monks who uphold the precepts decreased, when the side of non-Dharma increased, there was a monk named Buddha-wisdom who lived in a quiet place. A sentient being with virtuous roots gave that monk a priceless garment, and that monk accepted it in order to receive him. When he showed it off and walked past the garden of Isinda, the people of Isinda saw the garment and had evil thoughts.

At night, in the darkness, he went to that monk, snatched his clothes, took him to a secluded place, stripped him naked, tied his hands high on a tree, and left. That night, in the darkness, a garland-wearing Brahmin holding a stick came to the wilderness monastery, and at dawn, he was frightened by a tiger near a champaka tree, almost killed by the tiger, he fled as far as he could, he was very unhappy, and as he went along, he saw a naked monk tied up, and he thought, 'Alas! This monk wearing a kasaya has come here, the sign of the kasaya will not liberate him.' He raised his hands, appeared naked, and he thought, 'I should practice asceticism.' To destroy the sacred Dharma, he thought, 'This path must be the path to liberation.' He threw away his bad clothes, shaved his hair, and became a bald, naked monk. From then on, naked monks appeared. That monk untied himself, peeled bark from a tree, and smeared it with yellow soil. A Brahmin walking in the field saw it, saw it as described before, and he thought, 'This is a monk wearing a kasaya, he threw away the kasaya, smeared himself with mud, and left, this must be the path to liberation.' He thought, 'Is this a virtuous act?' He wandered around, and from then on, silent wanderers appeared. That monk came back with flour, washed himself with the water from the wounds on his head, covered the wounds on his head with soft hair, and wore the cloth discarded by the cowherd who had killed a snake. Another carpenter saw him bathing, and as before, he saw the afflictions of that monk, and he thought, 'This monk is wearing a kasaya, the sign of the kasaya will not liberate him.' He kept long hair, wore grass clothes, and considered that bathing at three times was practicing asceticism. He thought, 'Is this a virtuous act? This is the path to liberation, there is no other.' He became an ascetic, and from then on, strange ascetic practices appeared. That monk came back, many wounds were filled with pus, his body was full of dust, bees were gathering, that monk covered himself with soft hair.
