Even if countless negative deeds have been committed, as long as the sun of this sutra has not risen, all sentient beings will endlessly wander in samsara; once the sun of this sutra rises, even if countless negative deeds have been committed, they will vanish as quickly as hailstones. Regarding the Tathagatagarbha, whether one slanders, despises, maliciously criticizes, follows others, becomes an outsider, is defeated by others, or commits the five heinous crimes, even if countless negative deeds have been committed, they will vanish in an instant. Why is that? Because merely hearing the name of the Tathagata Shakyamuni, even without generating bodhicitta, one will become a bodhisattva. Therefore, through the special aspiration of the Tathagata, for the benefit of myself and the world, I have liberated and will liberate others. Sentient beings who are asleep in countless samsaras will be awakened by countless holy dharmas. Manjushri, therefore, by hearing the name of the Tathagata, one will become a bodhisattva, and in order to personally cut off countless afflictions, one should act swiftly. Then my body will be protected. Manjushri, what I have said is that I have pointed out the path of cutting off the thorn of sorrow, the Tathagata is the teacher, now you should strive diligently, I have pointed out the path. There are two kinds of paths pointed out, what are the two? The path of the Shravaka vehicle and the path of the Bodhisattva. Among them, the path of the Shravaka vehicle is called the Noble Eightfold Path. The path of the Bodhisattva means that all sentient beings have the Tathagatagarbha, just as I have attained immovability in my own nature, the Sugata, with his profound wisdom, cuts off countless afflictions. If one does not cut them off, one will surely wander in the wheel of samsara, I have pointed out the path of cutting off the thorn of sorrow. Sorrow refers to affliction. Pulling out the thorn refers to the sublime words of the Tathagata. I destroy countless afflictions, just like a doctor performs treatments such as emetics, purgatives, and punctures. You should also naturally draw near to me, and I will explain the Tathagatagarbha, that is its meaning. Now you

The saying "Be diligent" means that it was said after careful consideration. The saying "The Tathagata is the teacher" means to cut off this birth. The appearance of a Buddha is like the flower of the Udumbara. Complete faith is like a golden millstone. Pleasing the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, is like a blind tortoise inserting its neck into the hole of a yoke. Do not let this Tathagatagarbha Sutra be in vain, let it have the fruit of life and survival. May I be liberated from all existence and all diseases of afflictions. Therefore, the Tathagata is the teacher, although he is negligent in merit, he does not like evil. I have taught from the Hearer Vehicle that the Tathagatagarbha is extremely difficult to obtain. There is no analogy in the world, therefore it is extremely difficult to obtain. There is no analogy in the world, quickly look at the Tathagatagarbha, do it like that, that is the meaning. What is the meaning of saying "do not like evil"? That meaning will be explained. The nature of the mind is completely pure, O monks, due to the fault of relying on bad friends, it is surrounded by many impurities such as the five impurities. What are the five impurities? Desire, craving, increased harmful thoughts, lethargy, and sleep are the three, agitation and doubt are the five that disturb the mind. In order to purify the many impurities such as the five impurities, one should strive. One should strive in the aspect of the mind's nature being completely pure. The saying "quickly, quickly" means that whenever one has not abandoned the Sutra Pitaka, whenever one has not become extremely greedy, at that time one should strive to save oneself. The meaning of that word is that, like the mind, digging out the sudden impurities of afflictions from the root is the meaning of the word "quickly, quickly." Mind precedes all dharmas. Mind is the chief, the nature of mind. If one acts and speaks with great joy, they will be accompanied by happiness, like a shadow following the form. Hearer Vehicle.
