Having illuminated all the lands, he saw the Thus-Gone-One and Angulimala fighting like men, fighting like sentient beings. Greatly delighted, he spoke these verses to the Blessed One and Angulimala: Alas, tamer of men, charioteer! The Buddha's wealth is beautiful and splendid! Alas, in this way the Buddha Has thoroughly tamed Angulimala! Always anointing his body with human blood, Possessing the power of Asuras, gods, and demons, Endowed with the strength of Yakshas, great power, Nagas and flesh-eaters, pot-bellied non-humans? Powerful, mighty, sky-soaring ones, And other fierce, powerful beings as well, Hearing the name 'Angulimala,' lie sleeping with their eyes closed. Such a fierce worker of deeds, that Angulimala, How could a mere human king kill him? At the moment of his birth, All the gods and Asuras were terrified, What need to mention a mere human king? His name makes armor and weapons shatter and appear. Such a fierce, powerful, and mighty one, Alas, it is good that the Thus-Gone-One has tamed him! His power and strength are also inconceivable. The Buddha is inconceivable, the Buddha is, The realm and the sphere of wisdom are inconceivable. Today Angulimala appears beautiful, Very handsome, like refined gold. Beautiful like the color of the rising sun's rays. Angulimala, with his ugly appearance, is beautiful abiding in discipline, A person without discipline is not at all beautiful. Alas, I think I have gained many household dharmas today, I would like to bestow a Dharma robe upon Angulimala. Blessed Buddha, please accept my compassion, Please bestow upon Angulimala the conduct of a renunciate. To the great king of all beggars, I request the Thus-Gone-One to look upon him well. Then Indra, lord of the gods, spoke these words to Angulimala: Noble man, take this excellent divine garment of mine as your Dharma robe. Then Angulimala spoke these words to Indra, lord of the gods: Like a bee, who are you? Shakra, would I accept a donation from one without faith? Shakra, you are a mass of desires, you have not yet crossed many rivers, How can you, naturally naked, give clothes to others? You are

If one is naked like this, how can one give away valueless clothes to others for the sake of Dharma robes? For example, if a king's strongman himself falls down at the beginning, like an old ox sinking into the mud. Because he falls down without crossing over, how can he make other strongmen cross over? Similarly, if I also wear your valueless clothes, how can I defeat the thousand-eyed Indra, countless afflictive demons, and self-nature demons, etc.? I will fight with boundless demons and bring many afflictions to an end, practicing the twelve qualities of asceticism praised by the Tathagata. Your bedding should not remain like that. Thousand-eyed Indra, you are not the lord of the gods, you are no different from a blind man. Indra, you do not know what kind of difference there is in the sins of cruel actions. How can you, like a bee, know that Angulimala (指杀人魔) is a cruel person? Alas, Indra does not clearly know cruel actions! If one knows the rules of the Dharma, then if one wants to renounce and wears valueless Dharma robes at the beginning, what kind of practitioner will one become? Indra, you do not even know the solitude of renunciation, alas, Indra, you have turned away from the Dharma. For example, abandoning eighty thousand vases filled with jewels, pearls, lapis lazuli, gold, and moonstone jewels, etc., as well as Sali rice and countless other jewel vases, abandoning valueless clothes like spittle dust. Whoever has unwavering faith in the Dharma of practice, the eldest son of the Tathagata, the great Elder Kashyapa, dwells in the forest, binds himself with the twelve qualities of asceticism, and practices asceticism with his body, why does he not wear valueless clothes? Why does he abandon houses and dwellings, the great Elder Kashyapa abandons various nectar-like foods and meat dishes, and practices asceticism truthfully without eating meat. Going from house to house begging for food, not being a mute but acting like a mute.
