I see. That person will surely be reborn in the heavens after death, and I know that his body is sitting on the seat of the gods. When he makes offerings to the Buddhas, he can see all the goddesses. Shariputra, also, offering lamps to the stupa of the Tathagata, after death, one is born in the Trayastrimsha heaven, becoming a son of the gods, endowed with five perfections. Shariputra, what are the five perfections with which the son of the gods is endowed? That is, his body becomes completely pure, he possesses great divine power, his memory and wisdom become completely pure, his ears can hear beautiful sounds, and his retinue is numerous and pleasing to the mind. The Blessed One spoke thus. After the Sugata spoke thus, the Teacher spoke again in this way. By offering lamps to the stupa of the sage, his body will become very bright, possessing glory that others cannot match, and he will become the lord of a thousand gods. Hearing the sweet and pleasing sounds of the heavens, like other gods, this god is also the most excellent. He possesses excellent memory and wisdom, and will also obtain the most perfect retinue. Wherever that son of the gods goes, wherever he goes, all the gods will follow. What makes his body shine so brightly? This is the result of his past karma. In the land of the garden, there is a tree called "Supreme Moon," adorned with countless palaces. Just as the moon illuminates everything, so too are the trees there bright. The lamps illuminate everything, emitting a pleasing fragrance in all directions. What is the name of this bright flower? The gods will hold countless wonders. His retinue is adorned with those flowers, and thus becomes beautiful. Among the billions of gods, he is as beautiful as the rising sun. Shariputra, offering lamps to the stupa of the Tathagata, after death, one is born in the Trayastrimsha heaven. The sons of the gods themselves know how long it will be before they die and are reborn. When the sons of the gods die, their retinue and other sons of the gods also...

Having made them truly rejoice with the words of the true Dharma, causing them to truly hold onto it, they pass away from that place. Even after passing away, they will not go to be reborn in a lower realm. If they are born in the human world, they will be born into a noble and virtuous family, endowed with faith, and blessed with the appearance of a Buddha. If it happens that a Buddha does not appear, they will not be born into a family with evil views, but will be born into a lineage free from amazement and fear. The Bhagavan spoke thus, and the Sugata, having spoken thus, similarly, the Teacher further spoke thus: 'In the realm of the gods, I will reside for a long time.' His consciousness proceeds in this way. That chief of the gods also knows this well. When the time of death arrives, at that time, five signs of decline will appear. Many hundreds of thousands of gods gather there, and they also directly teach the Dharma. 'I will die soon from here; all conditioned things are impermanent and without happiness. Others will die, and others will be born. Alas! I will die.' He sits in the center, speaking very unpleasant words. His messengers and others are also like that; many other gods are also suffering and distressed. Then, having seen the five signs of decline, he does not find joy in his own seat, and rises from that place and goes away. He also does not rejoice in the immeasurable palace. 'We see this as the last time,' thus many gods grieve. His excellent and supreme seat, that is taken and offered by a goddess. Having seen that seat, he did not gain joy in his own seat, and then he died. The lord of the gods, having passed away from the heavenly abode, manifestly goes to the human world. His own memory is not lost, and in that place, he also finds happiness and not suffering. After being born, he greatly remembers past lives, and as soon as he is born, he knows his previous existence. 'The afflictions will harm me,' he is extremely distressed, and there is no joy in that place either. Remembering the glory of attaining the realm of the gods, he does not find happiness in the human world. The suffering of the heavenly realm, what need is there to speak of the human realm? All conditioned things are without essence and deceptive. Whenever the strength of the body declines, at that time he
