Manjushri, furthermore, the five attainments of exhaling and inhaling will completely purify the first bhumi of the Bodhisattvas. What are the five? They are as follows: I abide in the knowledge that surpassing pride is inseparable from the absence of surpassing pride; others also abide in the knowledge that surpassing pride is inseparable from the absence of surpassing pride. Thus, the attainment of exhaling and inhaling will be achieved. In this context, surpassing pride being inseparable from the absence of surpassing pride is the very nature of surpassing pride. Why is this so? Because the absence of surpassing pride is not other than the nature of surpassing pride; since there is no absence of surpassing pride other than the nature of surpassing pride, the very nature of surpassing pride is the absence of surpassing pride. Knowing the nature of surpassing pride as the absence of surpassing pride, all dharmas are the absence of surpassing pride. I abide in the knowledge that self-praise is inseparable from the absence of self-praise; others also abide in the knowledge that self-praise is inseparable from the absence of self-praise. Thus, the attainment of exhaling and inhaling will be achieved. In this context, self-praise being inseparable from the absence of self-praise is the very nature of self-praise. Why is this so? Because the absence of self-praise is not other than the nature of self-praise; since there is no absence of self-praise other than the nature of self-praise, the very nature of self-praise is the absence of self-praise. Knowing the nature of self-praise as the absence of self-praise, all dharmas are the absence of self-praise. I abide in the knowledge that the direct meaning is inseparable from the definitive meaning; others also abide in the knowledge that the direct meaning is inseparable from the definitive meaning. Thus, the attainment of exhaling and inhaling will be achieved. In this context, the direct meaning being inseparable from the definitive meaning is the very nature of the direct meaning. Why is this so? Because the definitive meaning is not other than the nature of the direct meaning; since there is no definitive meaning other than the nature of the direct meaning, the very nature of the direct meaning is the definitive meaning. Knowing the nature of the direct meaning as the definitive meaning, all dharmas are the definitive meaning. I am inseparable from the person, dharma.
