Then, the nature of non-existence is not other than the nature of existence, because there is no non-existence other than the nature of existence, so the nature of existence itself is non-existence. Knowing the non-existence of the nature of existence means knowing that all dharmas are non-existent. I abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from consciousness, in non-consciousness. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from consciousness, in non-consciousness. Thus, one can attain the incoming and outgoing breath. Here, non-discrimination from consciousness, non-consciousness, is the nature of consciousness. Why? Because non-consciousness is not other than the nature of consciousness, because there is no non-consciousness other than the nature of consciousness, so the nature of consciousness itself is non-consciousness. Knowing the non-consciousness of the nature of consciousness means knowing that all dharmas are non-consciousness. Manjushri, these five attainments of incoming and outgoing breath will completely purify the first bhumi of the Bodhisattvas. Manjushri, there are also another five attainments of incoming and outgoing breath that will completely purify the first bhumi of the Bodhisattvas. What are the five? They are as follows: I abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from name, in namelessness. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from name, in namelessness. Thus, one can attain the incoming and outgoing breath. Here, non-discrimination from name, namelessness, is the nature of name. Why? Because namelessness is not other than the nature of name, because there is no namelessness other than the nature of name, so the nature of name itself is namelessness. Knowing the namelessness of the nature of name means knowing that all dharmas are nameless. I abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from self, in the wisdom of non-self. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of non-discrimination from self, in the wisdom of non-self. Thus, one can attain the incoming and outgoing breath. Here, non-discrimination from self, non-self, is the nature of self. Why? Because non-self is not other than the nature of self, because there is no non-self other than the nature of self, so the nature of self itself is non-self, knowing the non-self of the nature of self

Knowing that, all dharmas are without self. I abide in the knowledge of the action of the assembly of causes and conditions, and the non-action that is inseparable from the assembly of causes and conditions. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of the action of the assembly of causes and conditions, and the non-action that is inseparable from the assembly of causes and conditions, thus obtaining the in-and-out breath. In that, the action of the assembly of causes and conditions, and the non-action that is inseparable from the assembly of causes and conditions, is the very action of the assembly of causes and conditions itself. Why is that? Because the non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions is not different from the nature of the action of the assembly of causes and conditions. Since there is no other non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions apart from the action of the assembly of causes and conditions, the very nature of the non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions is the non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions. Knowing the nature of the non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions, all dharmas are the non-action of the assembly of causes and conditions. I abide in the knowledge of difference and non-difference. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of difference and non-difference, thus obtaining the in-and-out breath. In that, the nature of difference and non-difference is the very nature of difference itself. Why is that? Because non-difference is not different from the nature of difference. Since there is no other non-difference apart from the nature of difference, the very nature of difference is non-difference. Knowing the non-difference of the nature of difference, all dharmas are non-difference. I abide in the knowledge of letters and the non-letters that are inseparable from letters. Other beings also abide in the knowledge of letters and the non-letters that are inseparable from letters, thus obtaining the in-and-out breath. In that, letters and the non-letters that are inseparable from letters are the very nature of letters itself. Why is that? Because non-letters are not different from the nature of letters. Since there are no other non-letters apart from the nature of letters, the very nature of letters is non-letters. Knowing the non-letters of the nature of letters, all dharmas are non-letters. These five aspects of Manjushri's in-and-out breath will completely purify the first ground of the Bodhisattvas.
