will transform. Among them, the only thing to rejoice in is rejoicing in completely abandoning the hustle and bustle. Manjushri, these five attainments of the breath will completely purify the first ground of the Bodhisattvas. Chapter Three. Manjushri, there are also five other attainments of the breath that will completely purify the first ground of the Bodhisattvas. What are the five? For example: I abide in the joy of delighting in the Dharma, and others also rejoice in the joy of delighting in the Dharma, thus attaining the breath. Among them, delighting in the joy of the Dharma is not fearing the three realms and not wasting the Bodhi mind. I abide in abandoning the nine objects of torment, and others also rejoice in abandoning the nine objects of torment, thus attaining the breath. Among them, abandoning the nine objects of torment is completely understanding the nine abodes of sentient beings. I abide in the nature of mind being peaceful, and others also rejoice in the nature of mind being peaceful, thus attaining the breath. Among them, the nature of mind being peaceful is the absence of complete suffering of the mind. I abide in completely seeking the assembly of tranquility, and others also rejoice in completely seeking the assembly of tranquility, thus attaining the breath. Among them, completely seeking the assembly of tranquility is the mind becoming workable. I abide in not relaxing discipline, and others also rejoice in not relaxing discipline, thus attaining the breath. Among them, not relaxing discipline is completely liberating from the decline of rituals, discipline, and views. Manjushri, these five attainments of the breath will completely purify the first ground of the Bodhisattvas. Manjushri, there are also five other attainments of the breath that will completely purify the first ground of the Bodhisattvas. What are the five? For example: I abide in not deceiving gods and humans, and others also rejoice in not deceiving gods and humans, thus attaining the breath. Among them, not deceiving gods and humans is not completely abandoning the Bodhi mind.

I abide in practice, and I also establish others in practice, thus one will obtain the exhalation. That practice is the demonstration that follows the object of benefiting all sentient beings. I abide in a non-coarse mind, and I also establish others in a non-coarse mind, thus one will obtain the exhalation. That non-coarse mind is the mind of taming and knowing. I abide in vowing to be a disciple of all sentient beings, and I also establish others in vowing to be a disciple of all sentient beings, thus one will obtain the exhalation. That vowing to be a disciple of all sentient beings is the one who personally does whatever needs to be done. I abide in bowing to the objects of offering and the places of worship, and I also establish others in bowing to the objects of offering and the places of worship, thus one will obtain the exhalation. That bowing to the objects of offering and the places of worship is the one who has no pride towards all sentient beings. Manjushri, these five ways of obtaining exhalation will purify the first bhumi of the Bodhisattvas. Manjushri, there are also five ways of obtaining exhalation that will purify the first bhumi of the Bodhisattvas. What are the five? They are: I abide in completely seeking the holy Dharma, and I also establish others in completely seeking the holy Dharma, thus one will obtain the exhalation. That completely seeking the holy Dharma is being tireless in completely maturing all sentient beings, and purifying the Buddha-fields, and the assemblies of discipline and learning, etc., diligently seeking the Dharma and not accepting charity, not abandoning stinginess, not accepting discipline, not abandoning the discipline of breaking vows, not accepting patience, not abandoning anger, not accepting diligence, not abandoning laziness, not accepting meditation, not abandoning discrimination and investigation, not accepting wisdom, not abandoning evil wisdom, not accepting virtue and not abandoning non-virtue. I abide in having respect for the Dharma, and I also establish others in having respect for the Dharma, thus one will obtain the exhalation.
