Possessing all pervasive qualities, it ripens the mind of enlightenment. Such are the benefits shown. Having shown the ripening of the mind of enlightenment, if that merit had a form, even if all the fields were filled with grains of sand from the Ganges, filling them would not exhaust even a fraction. Having heard such subsequent teachings, the chief of kings became delighted in his heart, and with the palms of his ten fingers joined, he spoke the words, "I prostrate to the Buddha." For the sake of enlightenment, I generate the mind. May I become the Dharma King, the accomplished Buddha. Having realized enlightenment, free from dust and unconditioned, I will liberate beings as numerous as the grains of sand in the Ganges. After the Buddha's body spoke this verse, knowing that the chief of kings was delighted at that time, all three thousand worlds shook, and like a king of swans, he went from the sky. The golden-faced king became delighted in his heart, and the sons and daughters, as well as the wives, the king and the merchants, the householders, called out, "Go and prostrate to the Buddha." Surrounded by sixty hundred thousand kotis, holding flowers, garlands, and incense, they went to where the Buddha was, and the sunlight shone. After prostrating at his feet, they sat down on one side. Likewise, the sons and daughters, the wives, the ministers and the merchants, the householders, the other kings and their retinues, they also prostrated and sat respectfully. The gods also filled the entire space in the same way, playing musical instruments and raining down flowers. The golden color was surrounded by the people of the land, and with their palms joined, they made requests to the Buddha. Possessing the ten powers, immeasurable god of gods, tamer of the untamed, I beseech you. Whoever firmly generates the mind of enlightenment, how much merit will he accumulate? Blessed One, if one practices in such a way, without seeing suffering for many eons, one will surely be satisfied with ease and bliss, realizing the nectar of enlightenment, free from sorrow. Even if I give away my hands and feet, I will not be stingy, and I will not be stingy to offer my head and my own flesh and blood. I will surely abide in the practice of bliss. Please, O Sage, show me this means. May I always be endowed with happiness and ease. May my body never suffer.

May it be accomplished! In love, patience, taming, and discipline, may I, abiding therein, attain supreme enlightenment. Without laziness, may I always learn and study, and may I never violate the precepts. I, the guide, will firmly keep my vows, and never make hasty promises. Please tell me about the fruit of self-arisen merit, the Thus-Gone One speaks of the vehicle of bliss. I beseech you to bestow the teachings on how to practice, and having heard them, I will abide as taught. Golden Light, Golden Ornament, Light Excellent One, spoke thus: O, O lord of the earth, listen! I will tell you of the merit that is the cause of happiness, and I will also tell of the precepts, therefore listen to me. If someone fills the three thousand worlds with jewels, and offers them to those who possess the ten powers, by aspiring to enlightenment with this, their merit will greatly increase. If someone fills fields as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with jewels and gives them away in charity, by aspiring to enlightenment with this, their merit will greatly increase. If someone makes offerings to all sentient beings for hundreds of thousands of millions of eons, by aspiring to enlightenment with this, their merit will greatly increase. If all sentient beings become Arhats, having obtained the power of wisdom, and a certain person desiring merit makes offerings to them for millions of eons, if someone generates compassion and develops a vast mind for enlightenment, and for some sentient beings, generates the chief of the mind for enlightenment, even having taken only seven steps, their merit will be far superior to the former. If all sentient beings become Buddhas, endowed with boundless courage, and as in past cyclic eons, one being made offerings, whatever wise person, having generated the mind for supreme enlightenment, the merit of offering just one flower, will be far superior to the former. Even if one were to compose a discourse on that merit for hundreds of thousands of millions of eons, the discourse on the fruit of that merit would never be exhausted. Son of lineage, thus the Bhagavan, the Tathagata
