Therefore, I should give the offering of light, without a doubt. When giving that offering of light, like the aspiration prayer taught by the Buddha, by this offering of light, may I accomplish the meaning of completely purifying the divine eye of all sentient beings. There is also a later verse for this: By the offering of light, which transforms omniscient wisdom, may I, by this, make the divine eye of all sentient beings become completely pure and accomplished. That person, by the offering of light, will always, in this world, gradually possess and accomplish the five eyes of the Buddhas. How should one strive diligently in giving the offering of the sound of music? Son of good family, here the Bodhisattva thinks like this: The so-called offering of the sound of music is the supreme word that makes the divine ear completely perfect, so I should give the offering of the sound of music, without a doubt. When giving that offering of the sound of music, like the aspiration prayer of the Buddhas appearing in various forms, by this offering of the sound of music, may I make the divine ear of all sentient beings completely perfect. May I accomplish it. There is also a later verse for this: By giving the sound of music, may I, for all sentient beings, the divine ear, and the enlightenment of the Buddha, benefit sentient beings and make them perfect. By giving the sound of music, the perfect Buddha, who has fame, the divine and wonderful ear of the heroes, wherever it is born, may they obtain it. How should one strive diligently in giving the offering of incense, powder, and ointment? Son of good family, here the Bodhisattva thinks like this: The so-called offering of incense, powder, and ointment is the supreme word that transforms into the incense, powder, and ointment of discipline, learning, and samadhi, so I should give the offering of incense, powder, and ointment, without a doubt. When giving that offering of incense, powder, and ointment, like the aspiration prayer thought by the Buddha, by this offering of incense, powder, and ointment, I can make all sentient beings discipline, learning, and samadhi.

May it be anointed with fragrant ointment, and make the following aspiration: Through the giving of incense and powder, and the anointing, may all sentient beings obtain discipline, learning, and meditation. Through the giving of incense and powder, and the anointing, may those who are protected obtain the nose of the gods and the body of the gods, and attain accomplishment with that flawless body. Then, how does one strive to give flowers? Noble son, the Bodhisattva should think thus: The giving of flowers and garlands is a sublime expression for obtaining dhāraṇī, fearlessness (spardhā, competition, here extended to mean fearlessness), and the precious flower of the limbs of enlightenment. Therefore, I must give flowers and garlands. When he gives flowers and garlands, he should, according to the aspiration spoken by the Buddha, with this giving of flowers and garlands, may I adorn the bodies of all sentient beings with dhāraṇī, fearlessness, and the precious flower of the limbs of enlightenment. Furthermore, there is also the following verse: Through the giving of flowers and garlands, may all sentient beings be quickly adorned in all ways with the flower of the limbs of enlightenment. Through the giving of flowers and garlands, wherever they are born, may kings, ministers, and relatives always make offerings and show reverence. Then, how does one strive to give delicious flavors? Noble son, the Bodhisattva should think thus: The giving of delicious flavors is a sublime expression for becoming the name of a great person who becomes the best of delicious flavors. Therefore, I must give delicious flavors, such as grape juice, sugarcane juice, honey, butter, oil, and salt. When he gives delicious flavors, he should, according to the aspiration praised by the Buddha, with this giving of delicious flavors, may I enable all sentient beings to fully accomplish the name of a great person who becomes the best of delicious flavors.

It is said thus: By the giving of taste, may all sentient beings, with the essence of omniscient taste, the Bodhi of complete enlightenment, may the conduct be completely fulfilled. By the giving of taste, may the mind be tamed, like the ocean of mindfulness and wisdom, thereby obtaining the various aspects of taste, spontaneously accomplished and endowed with enjoyment. How does one strive diligently in giving places? A son of good family, this Bodhisattva thinks thus: Giving of places is a supreme term for making all sentient beings places, protectors, islands, refuges, and friends. I will undoubtedly give the giving of places. When giving this giving of places, like the aspiration aimed at by the Buddha, by this giving of places, may I become the place, protector, island, refuge, and friend of all sentient beings. Thus, make the aspiration. It is said thus: By the giving of immeasurable palace places, may I, in the Jambudvipa, become the protector and island of beings, refuge and friend. By the giving of immeasurable palace places, wherever I am born, may I become the owner and master of home, place, and retinue. How does one strive diligently in giving beds and pillows? A son of good family, this Bodhisattva thinks thus: Giving of beds and pillows is a supreme term for the noble one who completely abandons all obscurations, and the Brahma abode of the gods, the sleeping place of the Tathagata, and the giving of abandonment. I will undoubtedly give the giving of beds and pillows. When giving this giving of beds and pillows, like the aspiration taught by the Buddha, by this giving of beds and pillows, may I become the noble one who completely abandons all obscurations of all sentient beings, and the Brahma abode of the gods, the sleeping place of the Tathagata, and become abandonment. Thus, make the aspiration. There is also a subsequent text: By giving beds and pillows, whatever slight merit I have accumulated, by this may I eliminate the obstacles of beings, the evil wisdom of sins.
