And, just as it is, one does not desire to distinguish it as different in the slightest. Spoke: "Then how does one desire to distinguish it as different?" Spoke: "Just as a Bodhisattva manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, so one desires to distinguish the precepts of a Bodhisattva as different." In that way, the precepts of a Bodhisattva overwhelm the precepts of all ordinary beings, all Hearers, and all Solitary Buddhas. It is because of completely dedicating it to omniscience in this way. Why is that? Venerable one, the precepts of a Bodhisattva, whatever they are, overwhelm and subdue the thousand-million world system. Why is that? It is because it is for the sake of taming beings here. Venerable one, for that reason, the precepts of a Bodhisattva are called supreme. They are called chief, most excellent, abundant, unsurpassed, and incomparable. Venerable one, for example, the king of mountains, Mount Snow, has the qualities of a king of mountains that other mountains do not have. Therefore, among the mountains, it obtains the name "king of mountains," and the king of mountains, Mount Snow, obtains the name "king of mountains, Mount Snow." Venerable one, likewise, the precepts of Hearers and the precepts of Solitary Buddhas are separate from completely dedicating them to omniscience, but the precepts of a Bodhisattva are not separate from completely dedicating them to omniscience. Therefore, the precepts of a Bodhisattva obtain the name "Perfection of Discipline." Venerable one, furthermore, the precepts of a Bodhisattva overwhelm the precepts of Hearers and the precepts of Solitary Buddhas. Spoke: "Venerable Sharadvatiputra, why do they overwhelm?" Discipline, and it overwhelms the discipline of the Pratyekabuddhas. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: "Sharadvatiputra, well done, well done! Sharadvatiputra, it is entirely by the power of the Tathagata that you praise the Bodhisattvas and speak with joy. Sharadvatiputra, it is so, Sharadvatiputra, it is so, the discipline of the Bodhisattva overwhelms the discipline of the Shravakas and the discipline of the Pratyekabuddhas." Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Ananda: "Ananda, you should listen to, fully comprehend, and uphold the Paramita of Discipline as taught to the Bodhisattvas by the venerable Sharadvatiputra. Ananda, if by the truth and the words of truth, the discipline of the Bodhisattva surpasses the discipline of other heretics, childish common people, and even the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, by that truth and words of truth, if the king of mountains, Mount Sumeru, were thrown into the Brahma world and remained there, it would remain by the words of truth. Why is that? Ananda, the discipline of the Bodhisattva, except for the Tathagata, is said to be the most excellent of all disciplines, both with and without outflows, and is even called unsurpassed." The Third Chapter of the Paramita of Discipline is completed. The Fourth Volume. Then, by the power of the Buddha, the venerable Sharadvatiputra saw in a hundred thousand world realms near this one, a Buddha, a Blessed One, teaching the Dharma and abiding there. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: "Sharadvatiputra, have you seen in a hundred thousand world realms near this one, a Tathagata teaching the Dharma?" He replied: "Blessed One, I have seen it. Blessed One, who is that? What is the name of that Buddha field of that world realm?" The Blessed One said: "Sharadvatiputra, the world

That realm is called Lamp. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, who teaches the Dharma, is named Moonbeam. Among his Shravaka disciples, there is one with miraculous powers named Head. With his miraculous powers, he took Mount Meru, the king of mountains, from another world with his hand and threw it to the Brahma world. In the meantime, the Bodhisattva spoke these words: The Bodhisattva's discipline, except for the Tathagata's discipline, all other disciplines, whether with outflows or without outflows, are said to be the most supreme. If the truth spoken by the Tathagata is true, by the truth, the words of truth, and the blessing of truth, may this Mount Meru, the king of mountains, remain in the sky. After speaking, Mount Meru, the king of mountains, remained in the sky. Then, the Bhagavan said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Sharadvatiputra, do you see Mount Meru, the king of mountains, remaining in the sky? He replied: Bhagavan, I see it. The Bhagavan said: Sharadvatiputra, may Mount Meru, the king of mountains, not fall to the ground, may it go to the place from whence it came. The Bodhisattva blessed Mount Meru, the king of mountains, with the truth. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, those who think to despise the discipline of the Bodhisattva are thinking to abandon the discipline of the Tathagata. Why is that? Because the discipline of the Bodhisattvas, the great beings, is not to be despised. Then, the venerable Maitreya's son said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, if a Bodhisattva turns back, is his discipline also not to be despised? He replied: Venerable Maitreya, a Bodhisattva who abides in the mind of a Bodhisattva will not turn back, and one who turns back is not to be called a Bodhisattva. Venerable Maitreya, for example, if...
