Should it be recognized as a broken one? He said: Venerable Kashyapa, it is not, it should be recognized as having excessive pride. He said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, similarly, if a Bodhisattva retreats from the mind of a Bodhisattva, then he is merely claiming Bodhi, he is not a Bodhisattva, he is a slanderer of Bodhisattvas, he should not be recognized as a Bodhisattva. He said: Venerable Kashyapa, it is so, it is so. Venerable Kashyapa, for example, if a person has a male organ, and the senses are not incomplete, later his male organ disappears, and he cannot perform the function of a male organ, then he will be counted among the eunuchs. Venerable Kashyapa, similarly, if the mind of a Bodhisattva is obscured, he will not be counted among the Bodhisattvas. The eighth chapter on how Bodhisattvas should train in the Perfection of Giving. Then, Venerable Maitreya's son Kashyapa said to Venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, what kind of attention should a Bodhisattva who desires to fully awaken to the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment generate? He said: He should generate attention endowed with all-knowingness. Thus, the Bodhisattva abides in the dharmas of the Bodhisattva. A Bodhisattva who abides in this way completely dedicates whatever giving he gives to all-knowingness. If he completely dedicates it to all-knowingness, he completely upholds the Perfection of Giving. If he does not dedicate it in this way, then it is giving, but it is not the Perfection of Giving. Venerable Kashyapa, furthermore, if a Bodhisattva discriminates when giving, thinking, 'I have given up a little, I have not given up a little,' and discriminates, thinking, 'I should give this, I should not give this, I should give to this person, I should not give to this person,' thus

Thinking and discriminating, "I will give the bad things as charity, but not the good things. I will give to those who have morality, but not to those who are immoral," if one thinks and discriminates in this way, these discriminations are obstacles to the Bodhisattva's omniscience. Thus, such discrimination will cause one to attain omniscience only after a long time. "I will not attain omniscience after a long time," one should not think and discriminate in this way. Giving equally to all and having an equal mind will quickly lead to the attainment of omniscience. O fortunate ones, any Bodhisattva who wishes to awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment should abide in such perfection of generosity. Overpowering generosity, perfecting the perfection of generosity, if it is so, a Bodhisattva, in the morning, gives food to beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. After they have eaten, he gives them gold coins, pairs of silk cloths, and gold-threaded cloths. Similarly, at noon and in the afternoon, and similarly, in the first part of the night, at midnight, and in the last part of the night, he gives food to beings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. He also gives charity in the same way, abiding for as many eons as there are sands in the Ganges River. He also gives completely in the same way, but if he does not know how to dedicate it to omniscience, then that is generosity, but not the perfection of generosity. If he knows how to dedicate it, then the Bodhisattva is one who fully upholds the perfection of generosity. That is not a great act of complete giving on the part of the Bodhisattva. Why is that? It is because he desires to attain limitless Dharma and also desires to attain the Dharma of a Bodhisattva. Because giving with limits cannot lead to the attainment of omniscience. If that generosity becomes limited, then it is not the perfection of generosity. Because that generosity is not limited, therefore...

Therefore, it will become the perfection of generosity. O Venerable Gangpo, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should also practice in this way, practicing immeasurable generosity. Afterwards, one should also give completely, one should give completely in this way. The Bodhisattva, with that method, cuts off stinginess and completely upholds omniscience. That is to say, I should practice immeasurable generosity, and until I attain the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, I should practice generosity. After attaining the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and becoming a Buddha, I should also benefit sentient beings with the non-material Dharma generosity. Now, until I practice Bodhi, I should benefit with material things. When I attain the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, then with the non-material Dharma generosity, I should benefit sentient beings, I should generate such a thought. O Venerable Gangpo, for example, a person relies on a king, he relies on the king and serves and honors the retinue, the king then gives him food, he benefits with material generosity, he relies on and surrounds, serves and honors, and after the king is pleased and delighted, he bestows countless jewels, just like that, O Venerable Gangpo, a Bodhisattva who wants to attain the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, when practicing Bodhi, also benefits countless sentient beings with material generosity, and after attaining the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and becoming a Buddha, also with the non-material Dharma generosity, he admonishes and accordingly shows sentient beings, and liberates countless sentient beings from the suffering of samsara. O Venerable Gangpo, for example, there is a prince, and many people rely on and surround that prince, serving and honoring him, the prince then benefits all those who rely on him with food and drink, until the prince abides in the royal throne,
