The mind of a Bodhisattva cannot be exhausted. Sharadvatiputra, even those Arhats, those who have exhausted defilements, who possess the six superknowledges, could dry up the great ocean with the breath of their mouths, but the mind of a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva cannot be suppressed or exhausted. Sharadvatiputra, even those Arhats, those who have exhausted defilements, who possess the six superknowledges, could extinguish with the breath of their mouths the great pile of burning fire equal to the sands of the Ganges River in the world realms, but the mind of a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva cannot be suppressed or exhausted. Sharadvatiputra, in this way, the mind of a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva is called supreme, and is referred to as chief, excellent, श्रेष्ठ(梵文天城体:श्रेष्ठ,梵文罗马拟音:śreṣṭha,literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ), श्रेष्ठ(梵文天城体:श्रेष्ठ,梵文罗马拟音:śreṣṭha,literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ), श्रेष्ठ(梵文天城体:श्रेष्ठ,梵文罗马拟音:śreṣṭha,literal meaning: श्रेष्ठ), unsurpassed, and up to unsurpassable. After he had spoken thus, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said this to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how vast and inexhaustible or unpreventable is the mind of a non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Mahasattva! It is wonderful! The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, it is just so. Why is that? Sharadvatiputra, the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, do not speak in two ways. The Tathagatas speak of non-duality, and it is just so, not otherwise. Sharadvatiputra, if there were as many other sentient beings as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River in endless, limitless world realms, and if there were as many other sentient beings as there are of the earth element, the water element, the fire element, and the wind element, Sharadvatiputra, what do you think? Are those sentient beings many? He replied: Blessed One, they are many. Sugata, they are many. The Blessed One said: Sharadvatiputra, even if those sentient beings were to possess the six superknowledges, and each one were to possess miraculous powers like the great Maudgalyayana's son,

Urali, those with miraculous powers, thus manifest as many evil demons as there are sentient beings. For each evil one, there are as many groups of elephants, groups of horses, groups of chariots, and groups of small armies as there are sentient beings. In this way, each of those Arhats with miraculous powers manifests emanations, and each of those emanations similarly manifests emanations. What do you think, son of Sharadvati? Can they be counted? He replied, "No, Blessed One." The Blessed One said, "If those sentient beings were to manifest the burning of the three-thousand great-thousand world system where those sons or daughters of good family who are irreversible reside, what do you think, son of Sharadvati? Are those sentient beings displaying great miracles?" He replied, "Blessed One, those are great miracles. They possess great miracles and abide closely with great terror." The Blessed One said, "Son of Sharadvati, even if they were to abide in limitless and boundless world realms as numerous as the sands of the Ganges for eons, and thus display intense fear in every way, they would not be able to exhaust, subdue, or reverse the minds of those irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. What do you think, son of Sharadvati? Which of the miracles of those immeasurable sentient beings and evil demons, and the miracles of the irreversible Bodhisattvas, is more powerful?" He replied, "Blessed One, among these possessors of miracles, the miracles and minds of the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas are the most powerful." The Blessed One said, "What do you think, son of Sharadvati? Is that which possesses such miracles and power worthy of praise or exaltation?" He replied, "I understand the meaning of what the Blessed One has said."

As sought, these names, apart from the mind of the all-knowing, from what is called the supreme mind of the Bodhisattva to what is called the unsurpassed. Why is that? It is because the mind of the irreversible Bodhisattva is inexhaustible. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Sharadvatiputra, it is so, it is so, the mind of the irreversible Bodhisattva cannot be exhausted. The seventh chapter, the chapter on the irreversible ground, from the Perfection of Giving. Then, the venerable Maitreya's son Ganga said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, by what names is the mind of the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattva inexhaustible? He said: Venerable Ganga, because when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva gives any giving, he gives it with the aim of the all-knowing, therefore the mind of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva cannot be exhausted or suppressed. Venerable Ganga, for example, a merchant uses hundreds of thousands of goods and trades them. That merchant borrowed debts for millions of years from any merchant or shipowner. Then, his business failed, and he turned to the king and went to the king. Because of the king's army, that person was completely controlled by the king, and the merchant and shipowner could not control him. Why is that? Because he relies on the side with the army, that is, the king's side, the side with the army. Venerable Ganga, similarly, the mind of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who first generates the mind, and the mind of the irreversible Bodhisattva, both rely on the side with the army. Why is that? Because, like this, relying on the side of the all-knowing, the side with the army, therefore, he will not be suppressed by all the Shravakas. Venerable Gang
