And also completely giving away the objects, and completely dedicating them with skillful means, one will attain omniscience. Therefore, it should be known that this is the supreme attainment of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas. To the Bodhisattva, one should say: You will attain omniscience. Why is that? Because this object that you are attached to is difficult to obtain, because all internal and external objects are empty of inherent existence. Thus, you will attain omniscience. All those who have attained, all those who are attaining, and all those who will attain, one should also say: They have attained, are attaining, and will attain through omniscience. After saying this, the venerable Maitreya's son said to the venerable Sharadvatiputra: Venerable one, whose counting is this Bodhisattva's? He replied: This is the counting of the Bodhisattva who is skilled in means. Why is that? If these sentient beings attain omniscience, and if it is known in this way, then all sentient beings will attain omniscience, because in this way they do not believe in omniscience and do not generate the mind. Those who do not generate the mind towards omniscience will not attain omniscience. Those who believe in omniscience in this way and generate the mind will attain omniscience. After generating that mind, whatever objects they abandon, they will see that those objects do not exist. For whatever objects are known, these are like illusions, and this is not as I have grasped it. Thinking in this way, the intention to abandon it will become greater, and they will be endowed with the mind of generosity, and will not generate the mind of attachment. In this way, sentient beings do not understand that this object is like an illusion, therefore they will become strongly attached to those objects, and it will become the intention not to abandon them. Because of not abandoning, they will completely grasp miserliness. Because of miserliness, they will fall into evil.

They will also be born in evil realms and will be separated from that object. Thus, neither completely abandoning that object nor fully utilizing it, but instead generating miserliness based on that object, they will also be born in evil realms. When a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, skilled in means, knows this: this object is like an illusion, and abandoning it is also like an illusion. Because whatever is like an illusion is neither mine nor is it abandonment. Why is that? Because it is like an illusion. He thinks, 'That object is widely abandoned.' By abandoning that, he generates desire for the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are well-spoken, they speak truthfully. Merely by abandoning illusory objects, one will attain the nature of existence, the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. This is truly amazing! Therefore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva thinks thus: 'Which Buddhas, the Bhagavat, act in what way so that Bodhisattvas do not generate attachment to these objects, and thus transform into a mind of abandonment?' It should be understood that the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas' demonstration of the signlessness of these objects and conditions is a difficult practice. Venerable one, know that if a Bodhisattva Mahasattva wishes to attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, they will attain omniscience. Venerable one, if you think this is the boast of Sharadvatiputra, do not view it that way. This is merely through the blessing of the Tathagata that Sharadvatiputra is able to speak. Then, the Bhagavan said to the Venerable Ananda: 'Ananda, hold, recite, diligently study, and understand as the Venerable Sharadvatiputra has said.' The fourth chapter, the chapter on signlessness, from the Perfection of Giving.

Then, the venerable Maitreya's son, Gangpo, said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, what does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva relinquish when he relinquishes in this way?" The Blessed One said: "Gangpo, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva relinquishes nothing when he relinquishes in this way. Just as he relinquishes nothing, he also obtains no Dharma. " The Blessed One said: "Gangpo, just as the Bodhisattva Mahasattva relinquishes nothing, so too, when one awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, one obtains no Dharma. Gangpo, just as the laughter of the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is, so too will the door of the collection of Dharmas be the same. If the Bodhisattva Mahasattva were to relinquish some Dharmas, then the Bodhisattva would also obtain some Dharma when he awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Gangpo, because when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva makes relinquishment, he relinquishes nothing that exists, therefore, when the Bodhisattva Mahasattva awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, he obtains no Dharma that exists. Gangpo, for example, a magician or a disciple of a magician sells a ladu in the hand of a magician, and the magician conjures up a karshapana and gives it to him. Gangpo, in this way, just as the price is, so too is the ladu the same. Similarly, just as the Bodhisattva Mahasattva relinquishes giving, so too is awakening to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment the same. Gangpo, therefore, just as the collection is, so too is the laughter the same. Thus, just as the value of the Bodhisattva is, so too is the attainment the same. Gangpo, for example, a magician conjures up a tree, and near that tree also
