is to abide in mindfulness. Manjushri, if one does not perceive feelings as being internal, external, or both, then that is to abide in mindfulness, contemplating feelings as feelings. Manjushri, if one knows that the mind is merely a name, then that is to abide in mindfulness, contemplating the mind as the mind. Manjushri, if one does not perceive virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas, then that is to abide in mindfulness, contemplating dharmas as dharmas. Manjushri, the four mindfulnesses should be viewed in this way. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should the five faculties be viewed? The World Honored One replied: Manjushri, if one sees that all dharmas are unborn because they do not arise by nature, that is the faculty of faith. Manjushri, if one does not abandon the mind towards all dharmas because one is free from the notions of near and far, that is the faculty of diligence. Manjushri, if one does not pay attention to all dharmas and does not fixate on mindfulness because one is free from objects, that is the faculty of mindfulness. Manjushri, if one does not think about all dharmas, that is the faculty of samadhi. Manjushri, if one sees that all dharmas are free from arising and ceasing, free from knowing and not knowing, and empty by nature, that is the faculty of wisdom. Manjushri, the five faculties should be viewed in this way. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should the seven branches of enlightenment be viewed? The World Honored One replied: Manjushri, if one sees that all dharmas are without self-nature and cannot be conceived, that is the branch of mindfulness of perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, if one thoroughly distinguishes between virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral, and examines them, knowing that they are all unreal, and therefore does not perceive all dharmas, that is the branch of discrimination of dharmas of perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, if one is extremely aware of the notion of realms, and therefore neither accepts nor rejects the three realms, that is the branch of diligence of perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, if one thoroughly understands joy and displeasure, and therefore does not generate joy towards all formations, that is the branch of joy of perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, if one does not perceive the object of focus, and the mind becomes completely tranquil towards all dharmas

This is the limb of equanimity, perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, if someone fully meditates on all dharmas in a way that understands them, and therefore the mind does not cling, this is the limb of samadhi, perfect enlightenment. If one does not abide in all dharmas, does not rely on them, does not become attached, does not know them, and does not truly see all dharmas, abiding in equanimity, this is the limb of equanimity, perfect enlightenment. Manjushri, the seven limbs of enlightenment should be viewed in this way. Manjushri asked: World Honored One, how should the Noble Eightfold Path be viewed? The World Honored One replied: Manjushri, if someone sees all dharmas as without inequality, without duality, and indivisible, this is Right View. Manjushri, if someone sees all dharmas in a way that is invisible, inconceivable, indistinguishable, and completely inconceivable, this is Right Thought. Manjushri, if someone, because of thoroughly meditating on the inexpressible equality, sees all dharmas as inexpressible, this is Right Speech. Manjushri, if someone, because of not clinging to actions, sees all dharmas as without action and without doing, this is Right Action. Manjushri, if someone, because of abiding in equal livelihood, sees all dharmas as neither increasing nor decreasing, this is Right Livelihood. Manjushri, if someone, in a way that is without effort and without accomplishment, sees all dharmas as completely without accomplishment, this is Right Effort. Manjushri, if someone, because of being separated from the function of mindfulness, does not attend to all dharmas and is without mindfulness, this is Right Mindfulness. Manjushri, if someone, because of not clinging to all dharmas, naturally abides in equality and sees without disturbance and without clinging, this is Right Samadhi. Manjushri, the Noble Eightfold Path should be viewed in this way. Manjushri, if someone truly knows the Four Noble Truths, and truly sees the Four Close Placements of Mindfulness, the Five Faculties, the Seven Limbs of Enlightenment, and the Noble Eightfold Path, then he is one who has crossed over evil destinies, one who has reached the other shore, one who abides on level ground, one who has obtained bliss, one who has obtained fearlessness, one who has cast off burdens, one who has scattered dust, one who is separated from anything, afflictions.
