Moreover, if those who possess minds with characteristics, even with the strength of their diligence, cannot liberate all sentient beings of Jambudvipa, what need is there to mention all sentient beings? Son of the gods, for example, a great merchant who possesses great wealth, great enjoyment, and great generosity, who abides in loving-kindness, and possesses great compassion, with his wealth that brings supreme bliss to all sentient beings, brings happiness to countless, immeasurable sentient beings. Son of the gods, likewise, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, who has entered into excellent intention, who is urged by wisdom, skillful means, and great compassion towards all sentient beings, who has accumulated the great wealth of merit and wisdom for countless great kalpas, through the strength of non-objective diligence, ripens countless, immeasurable sentient beings. In a non-regressing manner, he also skillfully establishes himself in the all-knowingness of all aspects. Then, the venerable Mahakashyapa said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, the Hearers directly realize the unconditioned dharmas, Blessed One, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva belongs to the conditioned dharmas, how then does he overcome all those with characteristics, such as Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, who belong to the unconditioned? The Blessed One said: Kashyapa, in order to accomplish that meaning, I will give an example. Some people understand the meaning of the words spoken by the wise through examples. For example, if the four great oceans were filled with butter, and then someone were to take a drop of butter with the tip of a hair split into a hundred parts, Kashyapa, what do you think of this? Can ten drops of butter taken with the tip of a hair split into a hundred parts overcome the four great oceans filled with butter? Kashyapa replied: Blessed One, it cannot overcome. Sugata, it cannot overcome. The Blessed One said: Kashyapa, is there anything more numerous, more excellent, more sacred, and more precious than those? Kashyapa replied: Blessed One, it is like this

Even one hundred thousand kotis part of a great ocean, the Bhagavan is extremely numerous, extremely supreme, extremely sacred, and extremely precious. If it were not for the Bhagavan taking a drop of butter with the tip of a hair from a hundred rebirths, what need to mention the four great oceans of the Bhagavan? The Bhagavan said: For example, taking a drop of butter with the tip of a hair from a hundred rebirths, that is limited, similarly, the wisdom of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas who have attachment is small, because they have attachment. Odsrung (Holder of Light), for example, as much as the four great oceans are filled with butter, so too are the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, they have no attachment, they practice in a way that does not utilize the stage of faith practice, possessing all the supreme forms, gathering all the accumulations of merit and wisdom, they view in a way that does not regard conditioned wisdom. Moreover, they are completely matured by the fire of ultimate truth, transforming in a way that does not cling to the omniscient wisdom that possesses all supreme forms. Odsrung (Holder of Light), similarly, the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas also overcome, in a non-clinging way, all the Shravakas who have attained the unconditioned and all the Pratyekabuddhas who have attachment. Odsrung (Holder of Light), for example, if a lapis lazuli jewel filled in a great city, becoming a hundred thousand burdens, and a precious great Vaidurya jewel existing in the great ocean placed in a ship, if they reach Jambudvipa safely and without harm, what do you think? Can the lapis lazuli jewel filled in the great city overcome the precious Vaidurya jewel placed in the ship? Odsrung (Holder of Light) replied: Bhagavan, it cannot. Sugata, it cannot. The Bhagavan said: Odsrung (Holder of Light), just like the lapis lazuli jewel filled in the great city, view all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas who have attachment who have attained the unconditioned. Odsrung (Holder of Light), just like the precious great Vaidurya jewel existing in the great ocean placed in a ship, safely and without harm

Having come to the shops without. O Good Protector, just as a Bodhisattva Mahasattva comes to the shops of the city of Samsara, he should be seen as thoroughly establishing all sentient beings in the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment in a way that does not place them there. O Good Protector, it is like this: for example, in the last month of spring, when the great earth is completely filled with crops, a tiny ant carries a single grain of food. Which do you think is more, this great earth filled with crops or those filled by them? O Good Protector replied: O Blessed One, that great earth filled with crops will give rise to a great mass of immeasurable grains, which will satisfy countless immeasurable sentient beings. O Blessed One, what is the use of the fruit of the food sought by the tiny ant? It will not sustain any sentient beings. The Blessed One said: O Good Protector, just as that one grain of food carried by the tiny ant, so, O Good Protector, should be regarded as the fruit of the untainted liberation of all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas with characteristics. O Good Protector, just as that great earth is completely filled with many crops, so, O Good Protector, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva abides in the conventional and ultimate truths in a non-abiding manner. The six perfections and all the Buddha's teachings, and the roots of virtue are regarded as the crops of the accumulation of merit and wisdom, which are included in the unsurpassed. When it is fully ripe, it is like this: the bliss of unsurpassed, all-surpassing wisdom will become the livelihood of all sentient beings in a non-objective way. Then the venerable Good Protector said to the Blessed One: O Blessed One, it is wonderful! O Sugata, it is wonderful! O Blessed One, what you have said in a non-speaking way is just so. O Blessed One, thus, with all kinds of excellence, the unsurpassed, non-objective wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices in a way that does not practice on the ground of faith, Hearers and all Solitary Buddhas with characteristics.
