Its nature is free from desire, going without an object, that is, without letters, all words cease, unspeakable, free from all waves, following all, that is, equal to and like the sky, without color, sign, and shape, free from all movements, without "mine", without clinging to "I", without discriminating consciousness, free from mind, intellect, and consciousness, incomparable because there is no antidote, not in accordance with the cause and not falsely established on conditions, because it truly assembles in the realm of phenomena, all phenomena are equally established, following Suchness in a way that does not follow, abiding at the edge of reality because it is extremely unmoving, unmoving because it does not rely on the six objects, without going or coming anywhere because it does not abide, truly assembling in emptiness, well distinguished because it is without characteristics, the characteristic of being without aspiration, without separation and elimination, without abandoning and establishing, without birth and death, without the basis of all, truly transcending the realm of eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, not full, not tame, abiding, becoming unmoving, free from all movements. Venerable Maudgalyāyana's son, what kind of teaching is there for such a Dharma? Venerable Maudgalyāyana's son, the so-called teaching is also a word of false imputation, and those who hear it also hear a word of false imputation. Venerable Maudgalyāyana's son, for him who has no word of false imputation, there is no teaching, no hearing, and no knowing. For example, it is like a magical person teaching the Dharma to magical people. Thus, abiding in the mind, one should teach the Dharma. You should be skilled in the faculties of beings. You should see well with the eye of wisdom, manifest great compassion, proclaim the praise of the Great Vehicle, repay the kindness of the Buddha, purify your intention, and teach the Dharma so as not to interrupt the lineage of the Three Jewels, by knowing the true meaning of the Dharma. Blessed One, thus, thus, by teaching the Dharma, the householder's retinue from among them

I, with eight hundred others, have generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. I also have no confidence, Blessed One, therefore I am unwilling to go to inquire after the health of that noble man. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Mahākāśyapa: "Kāśyapa, go to the Licchavi Vimalakīrti to inquire about his health." Mahākāśyapa also said: "Blessed One, I am unwilling to go to inquire after the health of that noble man. Why is that? Blessed One, I remember once, when I was going for alms in a poor village, I went to the place of the Licchavi Vimalakīrti, and he said to me: 'Thus, abandoning the homes of great beings and going to the homes of the poor, Kāśyapa, your love is one-sided. Kāśyapa, you should abide in the equality of Dharma. You should always think of all sentient beings and seek alms. Seek food without food. You should go for alms to seek the morsel of others. You should bless the empty village and then enter the village. You should enter the city to ripen all men and women. You should enter the house with the lineage of the Buddha. You should take alms without taking. You should look at forms like a blind man. You should listen to sounds like a stone mountain. You should smell scents like the wind. You should taste flavors without discrimination. You should touch the touchable without the wisdom of touch. You should know dharmas with the consciousness of a magical man. If there is no object of self and no object of others, then it does not burn. If it does not burn, then it does not turn to peace. If the venerable Mahākāśyapa does not abide in the eight wrongnesses, and also enters the eight liberations, and enters the right equality with the wrong equality, and gives one morsel of food to all sentient beings, and also gives to all Buddhas and all noble ones, and then I eat after giving, how can there be afflictions?'"

Nor is it all. Eat like this, neither free from afflictions, nor dwelling with afflictions. Eat like this, neither in meditative absorption, nor having arisen from it. Eat like this, neither dwelling in samsara, nor dwelling in nirvana. Bhikshu, those who give you alms, their fruit will neither become great, nor will it become small, nor will it become middling, nor will it become special. One should strive for the Buddha's passing away, one should not strive for the path of the Shravakas. The great elder Kashyapa, thus meaningfully eat the alms of the country. World Honored One, having heard this Dharma teaching, I was amazed and prostrated to all the Bodhisattvas. Even a householder has such courage, who would not generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment? From then on, I have not placed any sentient being in the Shravaka vehicle or the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, unless they were not of the Great Vehicle. World Honored One, therefore, I am unwilling to go and inquire about that noble person. Then, the World Honored One said to the venerable Subhuti: Subhuti, go and inquire about the illness of the Licchavi Vimalakirti. Subhuti also replied: World Honored One, I am unwilling to go and inquire about that noble person. What is the reason for this? World Honored One, I remember that once, when I was going for alms in the great city of Vaishali, at the house of the Licchavi Vimalakirti, Vimalakirti filled my bowl with excellent food and said this: Venerable Subhuti, if you realize the equality of all dharmas through the equality of defilements, and if you realize the equality of the Buddha's Dharma through the equality of all dharmas, then you should accept this alms. Venerable Subhuti, if you have not abandoned desire, hatred, and ignorance, nor do you dwell with them; if you have not eliminated the view of the aggregates, yet you walk on the one path; if you have not destroyed ignorance and the craving for existence, yet you possess
