Having placed those thrones on his right hand, he went to where the Blessed One was, and upon arriving there, he placed them on the ground and prostrated with his head at the feet of the Blessed One. He circumambulated the Blessed One seven times and sat to one side. Then, those Bodhisattvas who had come from the Buddha-field of Supreme Incense Accumulation also descended from their lion thrones, prostrated with their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, paid homage to the Blessed One with folded hands, and sat to one side. All those Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas and great Shravakas also descended from their lion thrones, prostrated with their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat to one side. Similarly, Indra, Brahma, the world protectors, and all those sons of the gods also prostrated with their heads at the feet of the Blessed One and sat to one side. Then, the Blessed One delighted those Bodhisattvas with a Dharma talk and spoke these words: "Sons of good family, please be seated on your respective lion thrones." After the Blessed One had spoken these words, they were seated. Then, the Blessed One said to Shariputra: "Shariputra, have you seen the manifestations of the supreme beings, the Bodhisattvas?" He replied: "Blessed One, I have seen them." The Blessed One said: "Then, what kind of perception has arisen in you?" He replied: "Blessed One, I have an inconceivable perception of them. I see their inconceivable deeds in such a way that they cannot be thought of, measured, or counted." Then, the venerable Ananda said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, there is a fragrance that has never been smelled before. Whose fragrance is this?" The Blessed One said: "Ananda, this is the fragrance that emanates from all the pores of the bodies of these Bodhisattvas." Shariputra also said: "Venerable Ananda, such a fragrance also emanates from all the pores of our bodies." He said: "From what does this fragrance arise?"

It was said: The Licchavi Vimala-kirti took food from the realm of the Tathagata Heap of Supreme Incense, from the supreme incense of all incenses in the world. After eating, such a fragrance emanated from the bodies of all. Then, the venerable Ananda said to the Licchavi Vimala-kirti: How long will this fragrance last? He said: Until the food is digested. Ananda said: How long will it take for that food to be digested? He said: It will take seven weeks to digest, and then it will shine for another seven weeks. It will not cause any harm from indigestion. Bhikshu Ananda, if those monks who have not entered into certainty eat this food, it will be digested when they enter into certainty. Those who have entered into certainty and have eaten this food will not digest it until their minds are completely liberated. Those sentient beings who have not generated the thought of enlightenment, if they eat it, it will be digested when they generate the thought of enlightenment. Those who have generated the thought of enlightenment and have eaten it will not digest it until they have obtained forbearance. Those who have obtained forbearance and have eaten it will be digested when they are one birth away from enlightenment. Bhikshu Ananda, it is like this: for example, a medicine called "Tasteful" will not be digested if taken on an empty stomach until all poisons are eliminated, and then the medicine will be digested later. Similarly, Bhikshu Ananda, this food will not be digested until the poison of all afflictions is eliminated, and then this food will be digested later. Then, the venerable Ananda said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, this food is doing the work of the Buddha. The Buddha said: Ananda, it is so, it is just as you said. Ananda, there are also Buddha-fields where Bodhisattvas do the work of the Buddha. There are also Buddha-fields where light does the work of the Buddha. There are also Buddha-fields where the Bodhi tree does the work of the Buddha. There are also places where the names and forms of the Tathagatas

Also, there are Buddha-fields where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by seeing. There are also Buddha-fields where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by Dharma robes. Likewise, there are those where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by food, and likewise by water, gardens, palaces, and multi-storied houses. Ananda, there are also Buddha-fields where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by emanations. Ananda, there are also Buddha-fields where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by space. Likewise, space and the intermediate space perform the deeds of the Buddhas, and in this way, those sentient beings will be tamed. Ananda, likewise, there are those who perform the deeds of the Buddhas for those sentient beings by means of dreams, reflections, water moons, echoes, illusions, mirages, examples, letters, and showing definitive words. There are also Buddha-fields where the deeds of the Buddhas are performed by distinguishing letters. Ananda, wherever the deeds of the Buddhas are performed for those sentient beings by silence, speechlessness, non-indication, and non-utterance, there are also such completely pure Buddha-fields. Ananda, there is nothing that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, do not do as the deeds of the Buddhas in order to tame sentient beings by their conduct, enjoyment, and complete enjoyment. Ananda, all those four Maras and the eighty-four thousand doors of afflictions, which completely afflict sentient beings, are used by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, to perform the deeds of the Buddhas. Ananda, this is the Dharma gate called "Entering the Door of All the Buddha's Teachings." A Bodhisattva who has entered this Dharma gate is neither afraid nor arrogant of the Buddha-fields that possess all the vast qualities and arrangements. He is neither delighted nor proud of the Buddha-fields that possess all the vast qualities and arrangements. He also generates great respect for the Tathagatas.
