That should be known as such. Afterwards, it should be understood. Knowing that one does not attend to this is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva Field of Merit said: Merit and non-merit, and the unwavering attention, attention, that is two. Whichever merit and non-merit, and the unwavering non-attention, that is non-duality. Merit and non-merit, and the activities of the unwavering, their own characteristics are emptiness. Therefore, there is neither merit, nor non-merit, nor unwavering, nor attention. Whichever does not establish in this way is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva Lotus Array said: I arise from all arising, that is two. Fully knowing myself, that does not give rise to two. Thus abiding in non-duality, there is no discriminating consciousness, therefore the absence of discriminating consciousness is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva Glorious Essence said: Differentiated by objects, that is two. Whichever is without objects, that is non-duality. Therefore, whichever has no taking and abandoning is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva Moon Supreme said: Darkness and light, that is two. Neither darkness nor light, that is non-duality. Why is that? Thus entering cessation samadhi, there is neither darkness nor light. The nature of all phenomena is also the same. Whichever enters this equality is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva Jewel Hand Seal said: Rejoicing in Nirvana and not rejoicing in Samsara, that is two. Whichever has no rejoicing in Nirvana and no not rejoicing in Samsara, that is non-duality. Why is that? Whichever is shown to be liberated from bondage, why should one who is completely unbound seek liberation? A monk who is neither bound nor liberated finds neither joy nor sorrow. That is entering non-duality. Bodhisattva King of Jewel Accumulation said: The path and the evil path, that

There are two. Those who enter the path do not practice evil paths. Those who abide in non-practice do not transform into the perception of the path or the perception of non-path. If one fully understands all perceptions, the mind does not enter into duality; this is entering into non-duality. The Bodhisattva Truth-Speaker said: Truth and falsehood are two. If one who sees the truth cannot truly see the truth itself, how can one see falsehood? Why is that? Because the eye of flesh cannot see, only the eye of wisdom can see. If one does not see, one sees as if not seeing. Where there is no seeing, and no distinct seeing, that is entering into non-duality. Thus, after those Bodhisattvas each explained their own teachings, they said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, what is the Bodhisattva's entrance into non-duality? Manjushri replied: Noble men, all of you have spoken well, but all that you have said is dual. There is only one teaching that cannot be spoken, is without words, cannot be said, cannot be proclaimed, cannot be shown, cannot be established; that is entering into non-duality. Then, Manjushri, who had become a youth, said to Licchavi Vimalakirti: We have each explained our own teachings. Noble son, you should also be brave in showing the gate of the Dharma of non-duality. Then, Licchavi Vimalakirti became silent. Then, Manjushri, who had become a youth, praised Licchavi Vimalakirti, saying: Well done, well done! Noble son, this is the Bodhisattvas' entrance into non-duality, in which there is no movement of letters, sounds, or consciousness. When this teaching was spoken, five thousand Bodhisattvas entered the gate of the Dharma of non-duality and obtained tolerance of the unborn Dharma. The eighth chapter, "Entering the Gate of the Dharma of Non-duality," is complete. Then, the venerable Shariputra thought to himself: Even if it were alms-food, it would not be enough for these great Bodhisattvas. I wonder what food they eat?

Then, the Licchavi Vimalakirti, having known the thoughts of the venerable Shariputra, said to the venerable Shariputra: 'Venerable Shariputra, abide in those eight liberations spoken by the Tathagata, and do not listen to the Dharma with a defiled mind. Venerable Shariputra, wait a moment, and you will eat food that you have never experienced before.' Then, at that time, the Licchavi Vimalakirti entered into such a samadhi, and manifested such a miraculous power. Above, from this Buddha-field, passing through forty-two Ganges river sands of Buddha-fields, there is a world called 'Supreme Fragrance of All Fragrances.' He showed that world to those Bodhisattvas and great Shravakas. There, there is a Tathagata named 'Fragrance Supreme Accumulation,' who now abides and exists. In that world, the origin of the fragrance of humans and gods from all the Buddha-fields in the ten directions is not as excellent as the fragrance emitted by the trees of that world. In that world, there is not even the name of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, only the assembly of Bodhisattvas gathers, and the Tathagata Fragrance Supreme Accumulation teaches them the Dharma. In that world, all the pavilions are made of fragrance, and the promenades, gardens, and palaces are also made of fragrance. The fragrance of the food eaten by those Bodhisattvas pervades immeasurable worlds.' At that time, the Bhagavan Tathagata Fragrance Supreme Accumulation went together with those Bodhisattvas to receive the meal. There, the son of the gods named Fragrance Adorned Food, who has correctly entered the Mahayana, diligently strives to provide service and offerings to the Bhagavan and those Bodhisattvas. Then, the retinue endowed with all saw the Bhagavan and those Bodhisattvas accepting the meal and abiding in that world. Then, the Licchavi
