And abide in mindfulness by contemplating the body as body, abide in mindfulness by contemplating feelings as feelings, abide in mindfulness by contemplating the mind as mind, and abide in mindfulness by contemplating phenomena as phenomena. Among these, how does a Bodhisattva abide in mindfulness by contemplating the body as body? How does a Bodhisattva abide contemplating the body as body? That is, he abides contemplating the body as body in his own body and in the bodies of others, and also understands the prior limit of the body, also understands the later limit of the body, and also understands the present arising of the body, alas! This body arises from perversion, is composed of causes and conditions, has no feeling, has no action, has no master, has no grasping, and arises from all causes and conditions. For example, the external grass and, trees shrubs and, resin and, forests, these arise from causes and conditions, have no feeling, have no action, have no master, have no grasping. Similarly, my body is also like grass and, trees shrubs and, resin and, forests and, trees and, walls and, roads and, eye sockets, held by aggregates and, elements and, sources, has no feeling, has no action, has no master, has no grasping. Empty of self and what belongs to self, or permanent, or stable, or solid, or unmoving, or indestructible, or unchanging nature. Do not grasp this body as mine, I shall realize complete enlightenment with this body of mine that has no essence. And what is that essence? It is the body of the Tathagata, I shall accomplish the body of the Tathagata, the Dharma body, the Vajra body, the indestructible body, the stable body, the body that surpasses all three realms. Although my body has many faults and flaws, nevertheless I shall obtain the body of the Tathagata that is free from all faults. Seeing the benefit in this way, he abandons the body that is the place of the great elements by the power of individual observation, and this body of mine shall also be exhausted in whatever activities of all sentient beings there are. For example, the external

Similarly, may my body, which abides in the four great elements, also become the enjoyment of all sentient beings extensively through various doors, various aspects, various objects, various categories, various implements, and various enjoyments. Having seen this meaning of power, he also understands that the body is suffering, and for the sake of looking at sentient beings, he is not weary of the suffering of the body. He understands that the body is impermanent, and he is not weary of birth and death. He understands that the body is selfless, and he is not weary of completely maturing all sentient beings.
