You have spoken well, son of good family. For the inexhaustible diligence of the Bodhisattvas, please declare how the diligence of the Bodhisattvas becomes inexhaustible. Inexhaustible Intellect said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, these eight are the diligence truly taken up by the Bodhisattvas. What are the eight? They are: inexhaustible armor, inexhaustible effort, inexhaustible accomplishment, inexhaustible maturing of sentient beings, inexhaustible accumulation of merit, inexhaustible accumulation of wisdom, inexhaustible accumulation of prajna, and inexhaustible accumulation of accomplishing all the Buddha's teachings. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, what is the inexhaustible armor of the Bodhisattva? It is never being weary in samsara, and wearing armor for this many kalpas. Not seeking enlightenment by counting kalpas of not wearing armor, but wearing inconceivable armor. If the previous limit of samsara were as many as that, that many would become one day, and such days of fifteen days would be half a month, thirty days would be a month, twelve months would be a year, and with such a count of years, one Bodhicitta would arise in one million years, and entering into seeing one Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, like that, with that kind of count, generating Bodhicitta like the sands of the Ganges, seeing the Tathagata and knowing the mental conduct of one sentient being, also entering like that, with that kind of count, generating Bodhicitta for all sentient beings as many as that, seeing the Tathagata and knowing the mental conduct of all sentient beings individually, is also invincible armor. To enter this for the purpose of perfecting the perfection of generosity, and with the same count to serve the Tathagatas like the sands of the Ganges, to enter in order to perfect the perfection of discipline

With this entry and counting, making offerings to Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, similarly, in order to perfect the perfections of patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom, making offerings to Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, similarly, in order to perfect all the dharmas of the path to enlightenment, to perfect all the excellent marks and signs, and in order to perfect the powers, fearlessnesses, and all the unshared qualities of the Buddhas, making offerings to Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, with this entry and counting, seeing Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and those who generate the mind of enlightenment, they manifest and accomplish one of the major marks of a great being, and in this way, they manifest and accomplish the perfection of all marks and signs, however, what is the insurmountable armor? That is the inexhaustible armor of the Bodhisattva. Chapter Three. So, what is the inexhaustible diligence of the Bodhisattva? The inexhaustible diligence of the Bodhisattva is that even if the realm of the three-thousand great-thousand world system is completely filled with fire, one can still rise up from it, rejoicing to behold the Tathagata. The diligence of the Bodhisattva is rejoicing to hear the Dharma. The diligence of the Bodhisattva is rejoicing to ripen all sentient beings. The diligence of the Bodhisattva is rejoicing for all virtuous root dharmas. The diligence of the Bodhisattva is rejoicing for the wisdom of omniscience. The diligence of the Bodhisattva is called diligence because it enters for the sake of others. It is called diligence because it enters to pacify others, to subdue others, and to completely liberate others from suffering. Not relaxing, not being afraid, being steadfast, being irreversible, holding virtuous thoughts, abiding in great compassion, and constantly striving for the benefit of sentient beings, therefore it is called diligence.

Furthermore, in all walking and stepping, the Bodhisattva manifests the mind of enlightenment. He also looks upon sentient beings without falling into the realm of afflictions. This is called the inexhaustible vigor of a Bodhisattva. What is the inexhaustible true practice of a Bodhisattva? It is when any virtuous thought arises and occurs, it is completely dedicated to enlightenment. This is the inexhaustible true practice of a Bodhisattva. Why is that? Because it is completely dedicated to enlightenment. A root of virtue that is completely dedicated to enlightenment will not be completely exhausted or depleted in the interim until it reaches the essence of enlightenment. Venerable son of Sharadvati, for example, a drop of water falling into the great ocean will not be completely exhausted or depleted in the interim until it is burned by the fire at the end of the eon. Similarly, a root of virtue that is completely dedicated to enlightenment will not be completely exhausted or depleted in the interim until it reaches the essence of enlightenment. The so-called true practice refers to this true practice. True entry refers to those roots of virtue that are truly practiced, for the sake of saving all sentient beings, for the sake of completely maturing all sentient beings, and for the sake of establishing all sentient beings in virtue. Those roots of virtue are completely dedicated for the sake of attaining the wisdom of omniscience. Those roots of virtue are completely dedicated for the sake of the near-living of all sentient beings. Those roots of virtue are completely dedicated for the sake of completely liberating all sentient beings from suffering and for the sake of rejoicing all sentient beings in the wisdom of omniscience. That is called the inexhaustible true practice of a Bodhisattva. What is the inexhaustible maturing of sentient beings by a Bodhisattva? The realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, and the Bodhisattva should engage in calculation in this way. If I were to completely mature all sentient beings belonging to the three-thousand great-thousand world system in one day, in this way, going through eons,
