That which is not a person, not born of power, and has no augmentation of power, is discipline. That which has no augmentation of form, and is not feeling, not perception, not formation, and has no augmentation of consciousness, is discipline. That which has no augmentation of the earth element, and is not the water element, not the fire element, and has no augmentation of the wind element, is discipline. That which has no augmentation of the characteristics of the eye, and no augmentation of the characteristics of form, and likewise is not the ear, not sound, not the nose, not smell, not the tongue, not taste, not the body, not touch, and has no augmentation of the characteristics of the mind, and no augmentation of phenomena, is discipline. That which has no augmentation of body, speech, and phenomena, is discipline. That which, because of one-pointedness, is the characteristic of tranquility, is discipline. That which, because of skill in thoroughly distinguishing phenomena, is the characteristic of insight, is discipline. That which realizes emptiness, and the limit of signlessness, is without aspiration and unmixed with the three realms, is discipline. That which is not manifestly compounded, distinguished by non-arising, and is forbearance towards non-birth, is discipline. That which is unmade and without action, is discipline. That which has not arisen at the prior extreme, and has not moved to the later extreme, and does not abide in the middle, is discipline. That which is a mind without defilement, does not abide in consciousness, and is unmixed with attention, is discipline. That which does not rely on the desire realm, does not abide in the form realm, and does not dwell in the formless realm, is discipline. That which is without the dust of desire, and has eliminated malice, miserliness, faults, and anger, and is without the darkness of delusion and ignorance, is discipline. That which is not permanent, not annihilated, and does not contradict dependent arising, is discipline.

That which is not mixed with the aggregates of feeling and form is morality. That which has no latent tendencies of continuity, and the arising of views, and the non-arising, and obscurations, and does not abide in regret, is morality. That in which there is no place for the root of unwholesome attachment, and no place for the root of unwholesome hatred, and no place for the root of unwholesome ignorance, is morality. That which has no displeasure, and no pervasive suffering, and the nature of extreme gentleness, is morality. That which does not cut off the lineage of the Buddha by means of the Dharmakaya, and because the Dharmadhatu is undifferentiated, does not cut off the lineage of the Dharma, and because it is distinguished by the unconditioned, does not cut off the lineage of the Sangha, is morality. Oh, Bhikshu, son of Sharadvati, inexhaustible morality is to be observed because the continuum is inexhaustible. Why is that? The morality of ordinary beings is exhausted by all the places of birth. The morality of those with the five superknowledges of outsiders is exhausted by the decline of superknowledge. The morality of humans is exhausted by the exhaustion of the path of the ten virtuous actions. The morality of the sons of gods of the desire realm is exhausted by the exhaustion of merit. The morality of the sons of gods of the form realm is exhausted by the immeasurable and the exhaustion of meditation. The morality of the sons of gods of the formless realm is exhausted by the exhaustion of what is born from entering into equipoise. The morality of all learners and non-learners and Shravakas is exhausted at the end of Nirvana. The morality of the solitary Buddhas is exhausted by being separated from great compassion. Oh, Bhikshu, son of Sharadvati, the morality of Bodhisattvas is inexhaustible. Why is that? Because all morality arises from that morality. Oh, Bhikshu, son of Sharadvati, just as obtaining is inexhaustible because the seed is inexhaustible. Oh, Bhikshu, son of Sharadvati, likewise, because the seed of the mind of enlightenment is inexhaustible, it should be known that the morality of the Tathagata is inexhaustible. Therefore, those noble beings are called inexhaustible morality.
