Well established. Because it looks upon sentient beings, it is irreversible. Because it is the root of great compassion, it looks upon sentient beings. Because it is never weary, it is the root of great compassion. Because it knows the rituals for maturing sentient beings, it is never weary. Because it has no happiness for itself, it knows the rituals for maturing sentient beings. Because it does not expect a return, it has no happiness for itself. Because it is without impurity, it does not expect a return. Because it has become reliant on the Dharma, it is without impurity. Because it looks upon sentient beings who are weak, it has become reliant on the Dharma. Because it has become a companion, it looks upon sentient beings who are weak. Because it has become a refuge, it has become a companion. Because it has become a protector, it has become a refuge. Because it is not defiled by afflictions, it has become a protector. Because it is thoroughly examined, it is not defiled by afflictions. Because there is no transgression, it is thoroughly examined. Because the intention is virtuous, there is no transgression. Because there is nothing whatsoever, the intention is virtuous. Because it is thoroughly purified, there is nothing whatsoever. Because it is exceedingly white, it is thoroughly purified. Because there is no inner stain, it is exceedingly white. Because the outer realm is pure, there is no inner stain. Because all aspects are completely pure, the outer realm is pure. O venerable Sharadvatiputra, the thought of Bodhisattvas is observed for the sake of abandoning miserliness, and because it matures miserly sentient beings, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. Thought is observed for the sake of abandoning the defilement of immoral discipline, and because it matures sentient beings with immoral discipline, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. Thought is observed for the sake of abandoning harmful thoughts, hatred, and faults, and because it matures sentient beings with sinful thoughts, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. Thought is observed for the sake of abandoning laziness, and because it matures lazy sentient beings, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. Thought is observed for the sake of abandoning mental wandering, and because it matures sentient beings with mental wandering, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. Thought is observed for the sake of abandoning immoral wisdom, and because it matures sentient beings with immoral wisdom, the observation of thought is inexhaustible. O venerable Sharadvatiputra, in this way, thought is the virtue of all sentient beings.

Looking to abandon all evil dharmas, and guiding all sentient beings to engage in virtuous dharmas, therefore, observe the inexhaustible thought. Venerable son of Sharadvati, this is called the inexhaustible thought of the Bodhisattvas. Second fascicle. Venerable son of Sharadvati, furthermore, because the thoughts of the Bodhisattvas are inexhaustible, their actions are also inexhaustible. Why is that? The thought of generosity is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears to be completely giving away all possessions, this is their action. The thought of ethics is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears to be correctly upholding ethics, training, the qualities of practice, and necessary items, this is their action. The thought of patience is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears as a mind without animosity towards all sentient beings, this is their action. The thought of diligence is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears to go before all virtuous root dharmas, this is their action. The thought of meditation is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears to be completely training in meditation, this is their action. The thought of wisdom is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever appears to be completely training in listening, this is their action. The thoughts of loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity are the inexhaustible actions of the Bodhisattva, that is, whatever benefits and brings happiness to sentient beings, therefore rejoicing and having faith in the Dharma, and appearing to abandon attachment and anger, this is their action. In order to completely purify the three actions of the body, the thought of the body is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva. In order to completely abandon the four faults of speech, the thought of speech is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva. In order to be without greed, malice, and wrong views, the thought of the mind is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva. In order not to conceal the teacher's teachings on the Dharma, the thought of listening is the inexhaustible action of the Bodhisattva. Omniscience
