Merely seeing is called wisdom. So, how does one know and see ignorance? It is like this: all dharmas are nothing, all dharmas have no object to cling to, all dharmas are not true, they are inverted. Knowing that all dharmas are not as they are said to be is knowing and seeing ignorance. Knowing and seeing ignorance is called wisdom. Why is that? Because ignorance has no object to cling to. The "formations" that arise from the condition of ignorance are also the same; all dharmas are nothing. Ordinary people are confused by the darkness of ignorance and perform actions of formations in a reversed manner. However, these actions of formations are formless and without a place. Therefore, ignorance cannot produce the actions of formations, and because there is no action that has been done, it is said that formations arise from the condition of ignorance. The actions of formations have no place of gathering, no place of coming, and no place of going. Moreover, the place of formations is not the past, not the future, and not the present. Therefore, ignorance is also empty due to ignorance. The actions of formations are also empty due to the actions of formations. Although the actions of formations have no place, they arise relying on ignorance. However, the actions of formations do not abide in ignorance, and ignorance does not abide in the actions of formations. Ignorance cannot know ignorance, and the actions of formations cannot know the actions of formations. Thus, although ignorance and the actions of formations arise from ignorance due to the power of inversion, there is no ignorance to cling to, no nature of ignorance to cling to, no actions of formations to cling to, and no nature of the actions of formations to cling to. It is merely named darkness from the thickness of darkness. From the thick darkness of ignorance, the conceptual mind produces the actions of formations. Because actions are done from dharmas that are nothing, ignorance and the actions of formations are both nothing. "Consciousness arises from the condition of formations" means that consciousness does not abide in the actions of formations, but it is also not separate from the actions of formations. Although consciousness arises, it is not that the actions of formations produce consciousness. Why is that? Because the actions of formations cannot know the actions of formations, and the actions of
