Having met and revered ten kotis of Buddhas. Then, one attains the forbearance of the unborn dharma. Having attained the forbearance of the unborn dharma, one also meets one koti of Buddhas. Then, one will attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Those two will also gradually attain Buddhahood in one kalpa. One is called Immeasurable Sound, and the other is called Immeasurable Light. Holder of the World, therefore, those Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas who wish to quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment should diligently practice the dharma that is pure and extremely pure. Furthermore, one should enter into the nature of the skandhas and be skilled in the true nature of conditioned dharmas. The second chapter, examining the five skandhas. . Holder of the World, how do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas become skilled in the eighteen dhatus? When Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas apply themselves to truly contemplate the eighteen dhatus, they should think thus: the so-called eye-dhatu is not visible in the eye-dhatu. The eye-dhatu is without self and without what belongs to self, is impermanent, without essence, and empty by nature; therefore, in the eye-dhatu, what is designated as the nature of the eye is not visible. There is nothing in the eye-dhatu that is not true; it arises from conceptual thought. The eye-dhatu has no definite nature; the space-dhatu is the eye-dhatu. For example, the space-dhatu has no definite nature because there is no thing; similarly, the eye-dhatu has no definite nature, and its own thing is also the same. Why is that? Because a true thing cannot be found in the eye-dhatu, the eye-dhatu does not exist in a place, nor does it exist in a direction, nor does it exist internally, nor does it exist externally, nor does it exist between the two. The eye-dhatu has no definite nature; because there is no thing, the thing of the eye-dhatu is not visible; it arises from many causes and conditions. The eye-dhatu is not past, not future, and not present; because the nature of the eye is not visible in the eye-dhatu. The eye-dhatu is the past karma of...

Its fruit ripens and depends on the present conditions, hence it is called the eye realm. The so-called eye realm is the realm of no realm. There is no specific eye realm in the eye realm. The eye realm is the object of consciousness. The eye faculty is pure, and form also appears in its place, and it possesses the mind faculty. When these three combine, it is called the eye realm. There is no definite eye realm in the eye realm. The wise realize the eye realm in the realm of no realm. If the bodhisattva mahasattvas who uphold the world can thus distinguish the eye realm, they will be able to comprehend the form realm in the realm of no realm. Why is that? Because there is no form realm in the form realm. The form realm is uncompounded and uncreated. Because form has no definite characteristic, it is called the form realm. Form has no substance, and no discrimination, so what need is there to call it the form realm? The so-called form realm, because it has no substance, the nature of form neither abides within form, nor does it abide outside of form, nor does it abide between the two. It exists in the place where discrimination and form appear, and the eye faculty is pure, and it possesses the consciousness of the mind, so form appears, and it is called the nature of form. For example, it is like the image in a mirror. If the mirror is completely pure, then the nature of form will appear. Form has no definite characteristic. Just as there is no person in the mirror, yet the image of form appears. If there is a mirror outside, then the nature of form arises from within. Likewise, when the eye faculty is pure, form abides in the place where it appears, and based on this, it is like the image in a mirror, hence it is named the nature of form. Form has no realm, no characteristic of shape, and no definite nature, hence it is called the nature of form. Because the nature of form is selfless, it is called the nature of form. In order to truly know the behavior of sentient beings, it is called the nature of form.
