Possessing, that is, possessing by what equality. Abiding equally by what equality. Venerable Sharadvatiputra, what equality is not strength, nor is it weakness, it is equality. What equality, in this there is not even a little difference to be made. What is called equality is space, all dharmas are equal to space. Just as space is without appearance and without concealment, so too, all dharmas are like space, without appearance and without concealment. What is so equal is neither weak nor powerful, but Venerable Sharadvatiputra, what Bodhisattva is weak is powerful. Why is that? What afflictions are weak, that is the power of wisdom. What stinginess is weak, that is the power of generosity. What bad behavior is weak, that is the power of morality. What harmful mind is weak, that is the power of patience. What laziness is weak, that is the power of diligence. What distraction is weak, that is the power of meditation. What perverted wisdom is weak, that is the power of wisdom. Likewise, all dharmas, that is, in whatever the Bodhisattva is weak in non-virtue, in those, those have the power of virtue. Then, the Blessed One praised the Jewel Daughter, saying: Well done! Well done! If one sees the teaching, then one should declare it as such. When this teaching was declared, five hundred Bodhisattvas arose with patience. Then, the Jewel Daughter said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what are the ten powers of the Tathagata, by what roots of virtue does the Tathagata possess the ten powers? After saying this, the Blessed One said to the Jewel Daughter: Daughter, when a Bodhisattva practices for the sake of what Bodhisattva practices, desiring an inferior vehicle and doing what is not to be done, this is not the place, nor is there an opportunity. He has this power by the strength of being firm in his vows, having gone to the supreme essence of Bodhi, and knowing what is and is not.

Having obtained these powers, one truly knows what is a place and what is not a place as it is; this is the first power of the Thus-Gone One. Having obtained this power, the Thus-Gone One truly proclaims the lion's roar in the assembly, vows in the excellent place, and thoroughly turns the wheel of Brahma that cannot be turned in accordance with the Dharma in the world by any ascetic, Brahmin, god, demon, Brahma, or anyone else. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he relies on his own actions, the ripening of karma, because he possesses the power of the ripening of karma, from the attainment of enlightenment, he knows the ripening of past, future, and present actions, and the ripening of actions that have been properly undertaken, as they truly are, this is the second power of the Thus-Gone One. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he teaches the Dharma after examining the faculties of sentient beings, and after knowing them, the faculties enter as they are, and the faculties are possessed as they are. He possesses the power of knowing the order of the faculties, and when he attains enlightenment, he truly knows the faculties and the order of diligence of other sentient beings and other individuals as they are. Daughter, the Thus-Gone One truly knows the faculties and the order of diligence of other sentient beings and other individuals as they are, this is the third power of the Thus-Gone One. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he enters the realms of sentient beings, and after entering, he abides as the aspirations of sentient beings are, and as the realms are. He possesses this power of entering the realms, and when he attains enlightenment, he knows the many realms and the various realms.

This perfect knowledge of the world that has matured, just as it is, is the fourth power of the Tathagata. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he seeks out the different inclinations of sentient beings and the wisdom of liberation. Thus, he does not reproach inclinations. With this power of inclination, when he attains enlightenment, he perfectly knows the many inclinations of other sentient beings and other individuals, and the various inclinations, just as they are. This is the fifth power of the Tathagata. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he bestows wisdom on all conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, as well as on the vehicle of the Hearers, the vehicle of the Solitary Buddhas, and the Great Vehicle. With this power of knowing all paths, when he attains enlightenment, he perfectly knows the path of all paths, just as it is. This is the sixth power of the Tathagata. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he diligently engages in meditation and samadhi, his mind is determined and aware, free from afflictions, tamed, and mindful. With this power of mindfulness, when he attains enlightenment, he perfectly knows the meditation, liberation, samadhi, absorption, and all the afflictions and purifications of other sentient beings and other individuals, just as they are. This is the seventh power of the Tathagata. Daughter, furthermore, when a Bodhisattva practices the conduct of a Bodhisattva, he does not abandon the roots of virtue that arise from previous causes, he is mindful, and he does not break his previous vows. With this power of not abandoning the roots of virtue that arise from previous causes, when he attains enlightenment, he perfectly knows the power of remembering the many previous existences of himself, other sentient beings, and other individuals, just as they are.
