The Buddhas and the holy beings of the world, including the gods, those who possess excellent wisdom like the ocean, it is impossible to fathom their depth or measure. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Like one who does not know contentment and seeks the source of great water, gathering all the waters of the rivers. Likewise, those who seek the Dharma in this, but will never be content with the Dharma. Like no matter how much water is gathered, this ocean will not decrease or be filled. Even after hearing the holy Dharma, the realm of Dharma greatly increases, and no decrease is seen. Like the stainless ocean, although it gathers water, the turbid rivers do not flow into it. Likewise, the skillful deeds practiced by the Able One, those pure ones do not gather afflictions. Like the great ocean possessing a vast body, because it is deep and wide, it cannot be fathomed. Likewise, the ocean of qualities and wisdom, opponents from other sides cannot fathom it. Like the rivers that flow into the ocean, although they have various appearances, they all become one taste. Likewise, after hearing various kinds of Dharma, their liberation also becomes one taste. Like the cloud-ocean, the great ocean, it does not exist for the sake of one person. Likewise, those who have entered into Bodhi, they also enter for the benefit of all beings. Like the ocean is the source of jewels, and from it jewels and precious stones arise. Likewise, the source of jewels is the supreme sentient being, and from them arise the Three Jewels here. Like in the non-discriminating ocean, three kinds of jewels always arise. Likewise, those who teach the Dharma, also purify sentient beings with the Three Vehicles. Like from the rivers and the shore, the great ocean gradually slopes. Likewise, supreme sentient beings incline towards omniscience, and constantly strive to liberate sentient beings. Like the ocean does not coexist with corpses, this is their unmixed Dharma. Likewise, those who have entered into supreme Bodhi, also do not abide with inferior vehicles. Like the jewel that arises from the ocean, called the collection of jewels, it is praised as firm. Even if a burning eon occurs, it will not be burned, and it will be transferred elsewhere when the world is destroyed.

Thus, when the immaculate Dharma is destroyed, those who possess the supreme diligence strive to protect it. Turning away from the world that is not a vessel and from desires that are not Dharma, the wise victors go to other places. When the eon of burning arises, the springs, lakes, and ponds will dry up. This ocean will also dry up later. This great trichiliocosm will also be utterly destroyed. Those who dwell near the fleeting conduct, have the power to make the supreme Dharma in this. At that time, the best of beings here will protect this Dharma, even sacrificing their body and life. Even when the Sugata has passed away, they are always without carelessness, and this Dharma will not be destroyed for them. Thus, their minds are also completely pure. They abide in the Dharma and always practice conduct. Like the ocean, infinite beings dwell. They do not enter for the sake of one being. Likewise, for the liberation of all worlds, these great reputations enter greatly. This world realm, as many oceans as there are, although all their measures can be known, the conduct of all those victors, the Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas cannot know. Even all the realms of space in all directions, the measure of the supreme ones could be taken, but the measure of the wisdom of those who are greater than the sky, can never be taken. The Bodhisattvas are diligent and steadfast, and for the sake of liberating all the worlds, they have greatly devoted their vast and expansive minds. Who can equal or surpass that Light Protector? They are like the ocean, the source of jewels. They are merit and the field of merit. They are the king of analysis, the best of doctors, liberating beings from long-lasting illnesses. They are the place, the refuge, and the allies. The protectors are lamps, likewise making light. They create eyes for the blind. Having attained them, they attain the nectar. They and they are the supreme kings of Dharma, blazing. They are Indra, thoughtful with many meanings. They are Brahma, abiding in the four meditations. They turn the wheel of Brahma's Dharma. They are the captains, the wise guides, showing the path to those who dwell on the wrong path. They and they are the heroes who conquer Mara. The noble beings dwell in the essence of Bodhi. They are like the immeasurable white Dharma, like the moon. They are light.
