Those bodhisattvas who come from other vast Buddha-fields to this world, although they enjoy seeing this world, they do not hold other worlds as dear as they hold this world. Furthermore, the Tathagata All-Illuminating Radiance, based on the three vehicles, teaches the Dharma to sentient beings. Mostly, sons of noble family, you should abide in these two ways of abiding. Speak about the Dharma. Or, abide in the silence of the noble ones, in peace, extensively and truthfully revealing it. Fifth Chapter. Sons of noble family, at that time, from above, from the Buddha-field of the Tathagata Medicine King, the bodhisattvas Inexhaustible Wisdom and Excellent Wisdom came to where the Tathagata All-Illuminating Radiance was. They bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, circumambulated him three times, and then sat down on one side. The Tathagata extensively and truthfully revealed to them the samadhi called "Completely Pure Light." Why is it called "Completely Pure Light"? Because when a bodhisattva obtains this samadhi, he becomes completely liberated from all signs and afflictions, and he obtains the light that illuminates all the Buddha's teachings. Therefore, it is called "Completely Pure Light." All dharmas are completely pure from the beginning. All dharmas are completely pure from the end. All dharmas are completely pure from the present arising. This is called the purity of the three times. Whatever is completely pure will never become impure. Whatever is pure by nature is extremely pure. Therefore, all dharmas are called naturally luminous. What is the nature of all dharmas? All dharmas are of the nature of emptiness, devoid of objects. All dharmas are of the nature of signlessness, devoid of thought and discrimination. All dharmas are of the nature of wishlessness, without acceptance or rejection, without thought, without power, extremely devoid of essence, that is the nature.

is luminosity. Whatever is the nature of samsara, that is the nature of nirvana. Whatever is the nature of nirvana, that is the nature of all dharmas. Therefore, the mind is said to be luminous by nature. Son of the lineage, for example, it is impossible and there is no opportunity for the unclouded sky to be completely defiled by afflictions. Son of the lineage, similarly, it is impossible and there is no opportunity for the nature of the mind to be completely defiled by afflictions. Son of the lineage, for example, masses of clouds, smoke, or dust may arise in the sky, and although they make the sky unsightly and not bright and clear, they do not completely defile the nature of the sky. If the sky were completely defiled, it would not become utterly pure. Because it is not defiled in this way, it is properly called the sky. Son of the lineage, similarly, childish ordinary beings generate afflictions with improper attention, but they do not completely defile the nature of the mind. If it were completely defiled, it would not become utterly pure. Because it is not defiled in this way, it is therefore liberated by its very nature. Son of the lineage, this is entering the samadhi of the complete purification of appearances. Thus, the Tathagata fully revealed this to those two Bodhisattvas. Having heard that samadhi, they obtained the appearance of dharma in inconceivable dharmas. Then, the Bhagavan Samantaprabha Tathagata was asked by the Bodhisattva Akshayamati: "Bhagavan, we have heard about entering this samadhi. Bhagavan, in what state should we abide?" Having asked this, the Bhagavan said to those two sons of the lineage: "Son of the lineage, in this, you should correctly expound the discourse of the Dharma, or abide in the state of the noble ones who do not speak." Then, the two Bodhisattvas heard the word "Well said" from the Bhagavan.
