I will uphold, I will remember, and I will also widely proclaim it to others. Regarding this Dharma, I will deeply enter into it, and I will also diligently establish others. The praise of those noble beings, even if spoken for a kalpa or more than a kalpa, and their virtues are fully proclaimed, I, the Bhagavan, cannot exhaust the virtues of those noble beings. The Bhagavan said: Brahma, how much do you know of the praise or virtues of those noble beings? Brahma reported: The Tathagata knows how much of the undefiled Buddha's wisdom there is, and I will also know those virtues, and even more than those virtues, because one can understand the meaning, words, and profound texts spoken by the Tathagata, and be skilled in speech, being consistent and not contradictory, correctly combining and not refuting, understanding the meaning and not pursuing the words. Those are the words by which the Tathagatas preach the Dharma, the skillful words by which the Tathagatas preach the Dharma, the means, the methods, and the great compassion by which the Tathagatas speak the definitive words of the Dharma, I fully know. The Bhagavan said: Brahma, if a Bodhisattva knows this combination of the five powers of the Tathagata, then that Bodhisattva is said to be close to sentient beings through the deeds of the Buddha. Reported: Bhagavan, what is the combination of the five powers of the Tathagata? The Bhagavan said: Speaking the Dharma, and teaching skillful speech, causing people to believe in the Dharma of means, and teaching methods, and following great compassion, Brahma, these are not the realm of all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, but the combination of the five powers of the Tathagata. Reported: Bhagavan, by what speech does the Tathagata speak the Dharmas? The Bhagavan said: Brahma, speaking of the past, speaking of the future, speaking of what is happening now, speaking of afflictions, speaking of purification, speaking of good and non-good, speaking of the mundane and the supramundane.

Speaking, speaking with outflows and without outflows, speaking with faults and without faults, speaking of conditioned and unconditioned, speaking of self, sentient beings, life, nourishment, individuals, and persons, speaking of attaining manifestation, speaking of samsara and nirvana. Great Brahma, those speakers also speak in a way that is not fully established, viewing it like an illusion. Speaking in a way of seeing non-existence, viewing it like a dream. Speaking in the way of the sound of the sky, viewing it like an echo. Speaking in the way of the assembly of conditions, viewing it like an optical illusion. Speaking in the way of unchanging cause, viewing it like an image. Speaking in the way of inverted perception, viewing it like a mirage. Speaking in the way of non-arising and non-ceasing, viewing it like the sky. Speaking in the way of unspeakable, viewing it as unspeakable. Great Brahma, if a Bodhisattva knows this way of speaking, then those Bodhisattvas, although they speak all speech, do not cling to any dharma. Because they do not cling, with the eloquence of unobstructed wisdom, even if they teach the Dharma for as many kalpas as the sands of the Ganges, it will not be interrupted, and all speech is spoken inseparably from the realm of Dharma, and even to the non-difference of all dharmas, they will not become attached, and they will obtain the eloquence of unobstructed wisdom. Great Brahma, the Tathagata speaks in this way, therefore he proclaims the dharmas. Great Brahma, how can a Bodhisattva understand the Tathagata's skillful means of speech? Great Brahma, here, the Tathagata also shows that all afflictions are purified, and also shows that purification is all afflictions, from this a Bodhisattva should know skillful means of speech. Great Brahma, how does the Tathagata show that all afflictions are purified? Because the nature of all afflictions has no self-nature, it shows that all afflictions are purified. How does it show that purification is all afflictions? Because the nature of purification has no self-nature, thus it shows that purification is all afflictions. Great Brahma, I give
