When the Uposatha falls, if you don't leave quickly tonight, I will cut off your vital points and take your life. The sinful monk who spoke those words stood up. The pure beings, feeling compassion for those monks, did not shrink back. The gods were displeased and wept, saying, "Why do you insult the Buddha's sons?" Then all five hundred monks spent the night laughing and rejoicing, thinking, "Alas, we have escaped from that, it feels like a heavy burden has been lifted." When the five hundred monks passed away, they will dwell in hell for eighty eons. For seventy-six kotis of nayutas of eons, those monks will dwell in the realm of pretas. Those beings will become ugly in lifetime after lifetime, they will be born as venomous snakes and eat earth. Children will see them and pelt them with stones, they will have no refuge and no friends. For fourteen kotis of thousands of lifetimes, they will be born among humans and become poor, mad, blind, and their bodies will always rot. They will be ugly, despised, and have little power. Thus, five hundred kotis will be oppressed, always doing many unpleasant things, and they will also slander the generosity of others, throwing themselves into great precipices. In the future, there will be a sixty-eon period called "Great Fame," during which ten thousand Sugatas who benefit the world will appear. Among them, in the time of the last Buddha, they will obtain human bodies, see that Buddha, obtain forbearance, and see as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges. In the past, all of them together made aspirations to generate the mind of omniscience. There, their bodhicitta did not decline, but due to differences in their thoughts, they fell into the lower realms. At that time, I was the son of the Dharma-speaking king, and I also became known as the one with mindfulness. That slanderer will slander the teacher. Therefore, abandon pride, cast aside wrong views, and cultivate wisdom. Whoever does not wish to destroy themselves should abandon ignorant words and forsake jealousy like a pile of fire. For what is seen and unseen, heard and unheard, true and un
