Abiding in ordinariness, and thinking of all sentient beings as equal, therefore his samadhi will arise quickly, these are the three. There are also three others: namely, not feigning manners, not flattering, and rejoicing in that, not generating anger, and when practicing and dwelling, not looking back at home, these three, O Lord of Nagas, are the qualities and benefits of a Bodhisattva who abides in the noble lineage, and in the merits of cultivation, and in reducing possessions, which are excellent and supreme. O Lord of Nagas, if you possess eight qualities, the merits of a Bodhisattva's renunciation will be perfected. What are the eight? Being content with the noble lineage, and abiding in the merits of cultivation, and reducing possessions, and being learned, and delighting in proper mindfulness, and having much confusion about the Bodhisattva's intentions, and abiding in mindfulness, and striving in the practice of samadhi and wisdom, and making the accomplishment of all undertakings essential. O Lord of Nagas, if you possess these eight qualities, the merits of a Bodhisattva's renunciation will be perfected. O Lord of Nagas, if you possess ten qualities, Bodhisattvas will abide in the mode of profound Dharma. What are the ten? My own nature follows the own nature of all dharmas, my purity follows the purity of all dharmas, my selflessness believes in the selflessness of all dharmas, my emptiness has no doubt about the emptiness of all dharmas, my solitude enters into the solitude of all dharmas, my peace distinguishes the peace of all dharmas, my suchness comprehends the suchness of all dharmas, my profundity definitely contemplates the profundity of all dharmas, my insubstantiality definitely knows the insubstantiality of all dharmas, and my ungraspability thoroughly understands the ungraspability of all dharmas. These are the ten. O Lord of Nagas, if you possess ten other qualities, Bodhisattvas will abide in the mode of profound Dharma. What are the ten? The characteristic of abiding by means of perfect adornment

Therefore, understanding all phenomena as illusions, and seeing that they arise from perversion, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as dreams. Because of perceiving them as inverted, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as mirages. Thoroughly understanding all phenomena that arise dependent on the function of causes and conditions as optical illusions. Because of not reverting from the characteristic of immutability, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as reflections of the moon in water. Not abiding in objects and not abiding in directions, because of being without intrinsic nature, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as echoes. Because not remaining for even an instant, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as clouds and lightning. Because not becoming attached by desire, hatred, and delusion, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as rainbows. Because not becoming afflicted by sudden, proximate afflictions, knowing that all phenomena are thoroughly pure by nature. Being separated from arising, ceasing, and abiding, thoroughly understanding all phenomena as space. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess these ten qualities, then they abide in the profound Dharma. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess two qualities, then they will not fall into the view of annihilation. What are the two? Knowing how to engage in the activities of karma, and knowing how to accomplish all the Buddha's teachings. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess these two qualities, then they will not fall into the view of annihilation. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess two qualities, then they will not fall into the view of permanence. What are the two? Knowing how to engage in impermanent phenomena, and knowing how to thoroughly distinguish that which is born, decays, dissolves, and does not remain. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess these two qualities, then they will not fall into the view of permanence. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess four qualities, then they are skilled in dependent arising. That is, engaging from the arising of ignorance up to the arising of old age and death, and engaging from the cessation of ignorance up to the cessation of old age and death, and also not falling into the view of annihilation, and also not abiding in the view of permanence. Lord of the Nagas, if Bodhisattvas possess these four qualities, then they
