Excellent! Ocean of Wisdom, therefore listen well and keep it in mind. I will tell you the Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara, by which Bodhisattvas, abiding in it, will completely transcend all the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, what are those Dharma gates that completely cut through the hooks of Mara? Ocean of Wisdom, these ten are the Dharma gates that completely cut through the hooks of Mara. What are the ten? As follows: Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of emptiness, although entering into the aspect of emptiness, yet being one's own protector, greatly loving all sentient beings, this is the first Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of signlessness, although entering into the aspect of signlessness, yet causing complete liberation, greatly compassionating all sentient beings, this is the second Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of wishlessness, although entering into the aspect of wishlessness, yet intentionally taking birth in order to fully ripen all sentient beings, this is the third Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of detachment from desire, although entering into the aspect of detachment from desire, yet fully ripening sentient beings who engage in desire, this is the fourth Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of detachment from anger, although entering into the aspect of detachment from anger, yet fully ripening sentient beings who engage in anger, this is the fifth Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of detachment from delusion, although entering into the aspect of detachment from delusion, yet fully ripening sentient beings who engage in delusion, this is the sixth Dharma gate that completely cuts through the hooks of Mara. Ocean of Wisdom, all dharmas are of the nature of being without affliction, although entering into the aspect of being without affliction, yet fully ripening sentient beings who are afflicted.

This which causes ripening is the seventh Dharma gate of severing the demon's hook. Ocean of Wisdom! Although all dharmas, by their nature of being unborn and unceasing, enter into the aspect of being unborn and unceasing, this teaching of the Dharma to sentient beings in order to abandon birth, aging, sickness, and death is the eighth Dharma gate of severing the demon's hook. Ocean of Wisdom! Although all dharmas, by their nature of being equal and without distinction, enter into the aspect of being equal and without distinction, this teaching of the Dharma, which does not abandon the intention of the Great Vehicle but distinctly establishes the three vehicles for sentient beings, is the ninth Dharma gate of severing the demon's hook. Ocean of Wisdom! Furthermore, the bodhisattva does not abide in mind, intellect, or consciousness, nor does he forget the mind of enlightenment; he is separated from all actions, yet he does not abandon the action of liberating all sentient beings; although he has utterly transcended all conduct, he does not turn back from the conduct of a bodhisattva. This, Ocean of Wisdom, is the tenth Dharma gate of the bodhisattva's severing of the demon's hook. Ocean of Wisdom! These ten are the Dharma gates of severing the demon's hook; if bodhisattvas diligently apply themselves to them, they will utterly transcend all the demon's hooks. When this enumeration of the Dharma of severing the demon's hook was spoken, all the abodes of the demons shook and quaked, and there were six kinds of quaking. For example, just as when the light shone forth from the ūrṇā hair of the bodhisattva who was seated at the heart of enlightenment, all the abodes of the demons shook and quaked, so at that time all the abodes of the demons shook and quaked. Then, the evil demon, having seen this vast sign, quickly and swiftly gathered the fourfold army, and with whatever array he would go to the bodhisattva who was seated at the heart of enlightenment, with such an array, up to thirty-six yojanas, the hosts of demons filled the space up to the perimeter of the mandala of the retinue of the Bhagavan.

And Radongba, by the power of the Buddha, was suppressed there by him. Even when he came, only the Tathagata, and those non-retrogressing Bodhisattvas, and those beings who were tamed from that retinue, and those Arhats who had abandoned all connections with existence, those individuals with perfect views, could see him. Then, the Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Wisdom Sea: Wisdom Sea, did you see the evil one coming with what kind of arrangement? He replied: Bhagavan, I saw him. The Bhagavan said: Wisdom Sea, if this evil one comes to obstruct this Dharma category, what should be done? He replied: Bhagavan, now let him be cast into the world adorned with all bliss. Then, the venerable Sharadvatiputra said to the Bodhisattva Wisdom Sea: Son of good family, where is that world adorned with all bliss? What is the name of the Tathagata who teaches the Dharma there? Wisdom Sea said: Venerable Sharadvatiputra, to the east from this Buddha-field, passing through twelve Ganges sand-like Buddha-fields, there is a world called Adorned with All Bliss. There, the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyak-sambuddha, Subduer of Mara is named Subduer of Mara, and teaches the Dharma there. Why is that world called Adorned with All Bliss? Venerable Sharadvatiputra, in that world Adorned with All Bliss, the cause of bliss, the cause of merit, and the cause of adornment, even if spoken of for kalpas, cannot be exhausted. Therefore, that world is called Adorned with All Bliss. When the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Samyak-sambuddha, the Subduer of Mara attained Bodhi, he sat at the Bodhi tree, and before attaining omniscience, a ray of light called "Mara's Universal Instigation" arose from his body, the light
