Driven by (zer), in that world there were hundreds of thousands of billions of maras, and each mara had ten billions of attendants. All of them went to the place where the Bodhi tree was, and began to create obstacles for the Bodhisattva. But they were unable to create obstacles for the Bodhisattva. They were amazed, and prostrated themselves at the feet of that Bhagavan. The Bhagavan also taught those maras in such a way that they generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment from the depths of their hearts, and later the Bhagavan attained Bodhi. Therefore, that Tathagata is called the one who completely subdues the maras. Those excellent retinue and virtuous retinue who attained Bodhi are also Bodhisattvas who have been liberated from the maras. The attendants are also Bodhisattvas who have been liberated from the maras. That Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the one who completely subdues the maras, only truly teaches the words of the Bodhisattvas. There, there is not even the name of another vehicle. Venerable son of Sharadvati, that world adorned with all happiness is like that. If thrown there, one will no longer do the deeds of a mara, but together with those Bodhisattvas who have been liberated from the maras, one will generate the mind of Bodhi, and will perfect the Dharma of the conducive conditions for Bodhi. Then, the evil mara was terrified and frightened, and his hair stood on end. He wanted to leave that assembly but could not, and if he could not become invisible, he would be even more terrified and frightened, and prostrated himself at the feet of the Bhagavan, and prayed thus: Bhagavan, please protect me from being thrown into that world by the Bodhisattva Ocean of Wisdom. Sugata, please protect me. The Bhagavan said: Evil one, do not be afraid! Such noble beings as these do not exist for the purpose of harming sentient beings. Having prostrated to the warrior (Bodhisattva) Wisdom Sea (Bodhisattva) of (evil) demons (multitudes), he spoke thus: Noble one, please forgive me. Please do not let me go to that world realm adorned with all happiness. Just as wherever, a noble one like you becomes a retinue for teaching the Dharma, in order to create obstacles, I will never go again, I will do it like this. Wisdom Sea (Bodhisattva) said: Sinner, there is no need to ask for forgiveness from someone like me. Bodhisattvas are very tolerant of all sentient beings. Sinner, go to that world realm adorned with all happiness. Look at the splendor of that world realm, and the Bhagavan Tathagata who subdues the demons, you will not be harmed. Then, the Bodhisattva Wisdom Sea stretched out his golden right hand and placed it on the head of the sinful demon, with the truth and true words, for the Bodhisattvas there is no stinginess of Dharma, and the truth and true words of the master without concealment of Dharma, with what kind of miraculous feet I have, let the sinful demon also become the same. In this way, he made the blessing of truth. As soon as the Bodhisattva Wisdom Sea said those words, that sinful demon became endowed with supreme miraculous power. He caused the three thousand great thousand world realm to shake in six ways, and disappeared from this Buddha land. In this way, by the blessing power of the Bodhisattva Wisdom Sea, in an instant, a moment, a moment, he reached that world realm adorned with all happiness. Then, the sinful demon went to the place where the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha who subdues the demons was, and after arriving, he bowed his head to the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated seven times, and then sat on one side.
