Why is that Buddha-field called 'Extremely Manifested'? It is because the enjoyments and possessions of the beings dwelling in that Buddha-field are like the enjoyments and possessions of the sons of the gods of the Paranirmitavasavartin heaven. Therefore, that Buddha-field is called 'Extremely Manifested.' Why is that eon called 'Starry'? O Ocean of Intelligence, after a thousand kotis of eons have passed, a Buddha will appear in that eon, called the Tathagata Pleasing to the Stars. Why is that? It is because the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha attained enlightenment under him, and that eon is named 'Starry' after the name of that Tathagata. O Ocean of Intelligence, fourteen kotis of Buddhas will appear in that eon. O Ocean of Intelligence, that Extremely Manifested world is prosperous, peaceful, happy, and fertile, filled with gods and humans. It is vast and has wide borders, with ninety-six kotis of hundreds of thousands of settlements. Each settlement is eighty-four hundred thousand yojanas in size. Within each of those eighty-four hundred thousand yojanas, there are eighty-four thousand four thousand cities. Each city is surrounded by eighty-four thousand four thousand villages, marketplaces, and mountain villages. In all those cities, there are ten times ten kotis of hundreds of thousands of trillions of sentient beings. In all those villages, marketplaces, and mountain villages, eight times eight kotis of human beings reside. What need is there to mention the powerful and famous people? Thus, that world is extremely vast. That world is made of gold, silver, crystal, lapis lazuli, and the four precious jewels. In that place, food, drink, clothing, ornaments, and possessions are obtained merely by thinking of them. Those gods and humans are without 'mine' and without grasping. The lifespan of the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha is ten intermediate eons. His assembly of Hearers

The great assembly consisted of thirty-six hundred thousand trillion Shravakas. The great assembly of Bodhisattvas consisted of twelve hundred thousand trillion Bodhisattvas. The royal palace city called 'Extremely Pure Land' was the birthplace of that Bhagavan. After that Bhagavan manifested from there, that Bhagavan resided in the great city called 'Joyful Arising'. At that time, in that era of Ocean of Intelligence, in that great city called 'Joyful Arising', there arose a Chakravartin king named 'Extremely Pure Land', who was the master of the three thousand great thousand world realms, possessing the seven precious jewels. These seven precious jewels are as follows: the precious wheel, the precious elephant, the precious horse, the precious woman, the precious jewel, the precious householder, and the precious minister. King 'Extremely Pure Land' also entered perfectly into the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. With a superior intention, he had no hatred towards all sentient beings. The queen's entourage of King 'Extremely Pure Land' consisted of four hundred million trillion women, who were beautiful in form, pleasing to look at, resembling the form of goddesses, and all had perfectly entered the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. He had a thousand sons, who were brave, steadfast, possessed excellent limbs and supreme forms, completely destroying enemy forces, possessing half the strength of the sons of the desireless, adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great man, and all had perfectly entered the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. He had eight hundred thousand daughters, who were beautiful in form, pleasing to look at, resembling the form of goddesses, and all had perfectly entered the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Ocean of Intelligence, King 'Extremely Pure Land' offered suitable and faultless offerings to that Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha and his retinue for two intermediate kalpas.

Then, suitable and pleasing clothes, food, bedding, medicine for the sick, and utensils were invited for the practitioner. That king, for the purpose of making offerings to the Bhagavan, built a spacious and square courtyard, with a water surface width of five hundred thousand yojanas, the ground decorated with precious Vaidūrya jewels, surrounded by an outer layer of seven jewels, mixed with red sandalwood and snake-heart sandalwood, various beautiful things, like a palace of the gods. Furthermore, he built millions of tiered houses used by the Sangha of monks. King Eternal Purity, with wisdom like the ocean, did nothing else but continuously uphold celibacy, fully accepting the five precepts, and together with his consorts, his own people, and attendants, served the Bhagavan for two intermediate kalpas. After those two intermediate kalpas had passed, the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha went to where he was supposed to go, and upon arriving, bowed his head at the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated seven times, and then sat on one side. After sitting on one side, King Eternal Purity petitioned the Bhagavan Tathagata Amitabha thus: "Bhagavan, how do Bodhisattvas not rely on others in the Great Vehicle? Bhagavan, how do Bodhisattvas have special qualities and are not attached to them? Bhagavan, how are Bodhisattvas unwavering, unchangeable, and very steadfast? Bhagavan, how are Bodhisattvas completely pure in skillful means and wisdom? Bhagavan, how do Bodhisattvas see even from afar and never cut off the root? Bhagavan, how do Bodhisattvas both obtain wealth and not abandon caution? Bhagavan, how are Bodhisattvas not afraid of the profound meaning of the Dharma? Bhagavan, how can Bodhisattvas be called true Bodhisattvas?" After petitioning in this way, the
