These are the armors of the Bodhisattvas: By fully equipping a great ship, it is the armor of ferrying over those who have not crossed over. By completely liberating from all bonds of afflictions and views, it is the armor of liberating those who have not been liberated. By abandoning all fears of apprehension, it is the armor of enabling those who have not breathed out to breathe out. By showing what is non-existent as the reversed into equality, it is the armor of causing those who have not passed into Nirvana to turn away from Nirvana. By not focusing on self, sentient beings, life, and individuals, it is the armor of completely liberating all sentient beings. By not regarding body and life, it is the armor of upholding the sacred Dharma. By accumulating collections of virtuous roots without ever being satisfied, it is the armor of purifying the Buddha-fields. By accumulating various collections of generosity, it is the armor of the body's adornment with excellent marks and signs. By obtaining supernormal knowledge, it is the armor of subduing all demons and adversarial opponents. By the wisdom of individual perfect discernment, it is the armor of making all sentient beings extremely satisfied. By the wisdom of dharani, it is the armor of listening to and seeking all the Buddha's teachings. By the wisdom of supernormal knowledge, it is the armor of observing the minds of all sentient beings. By the wisdom of prajna, it is the armor of knowing the superior and non-superior faculties of all sentient beings. By truly cultivating the power of wisdom and jnana, it is the armor of fulfilling the ten powers. By having no higher mind in all circumstances, it is the armor of obtaining fearlessness. By abandoning all non-virtuous dharmas and completely perfecting all virtuous dharmas, it is the armor of fulfilling the eighteen unshared qualities of a Buddha. Even hearing that all dharmas are like illusions, dreams, mirages, gandharva cities, and reflections of the moon in water, one does not fear, does not panic, and does not become alarmed; this is the Bodhisattvas' armor of fearlessness. Knowing that all sentient beings are by nature completely in Nirvana, yet remaining without abandoning all sentient beings, this is the Bodhisattvas' armor of great compassion. Hearing that all dharmas are emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, unconditioned, unborn, and unarisen, regarding life and death...

O, the teacher who manifests in all lifetimes is the armor of skillful means of the Bodhisattvas. Knowing all dharmas to be truly established, understanding all actions to be unborn, yet not falling into annihilation, nor manifesting fruition, this is the armor of the Bodhisattvas' undisturbed blessings from the past. Having divided these twenty great armors, one has truly entered the Mahayana. The Mahayana has the four means of gathering as its wheels, the dedication of virtuous roots with good intentions as its spokes, the wisdom of dependent arising and emptiness as its profound center, the bearing of the burden of all sentient beings as its axle, great love and great compassion as its stable chariot frame, adorned with all precious dharmas, surrounded by all precious jewels, bound by the strong rope of intention not to violate past vows, carrying the burden of the yoke with the union of skillful means and wisdom, well-joined with the holes of calm abiding and insight, possessing the speed of the power of fully understanding the four truths, possessing diligent and unremitting effort, traveling to all Buddha-fields with the four miraculous feet, bound by the string of the precious garland of mindfulness, accommodating all sentient beings, vast and boundless, subduing enemies and the armies of demons, having done what is to be done well, diligently practicing intelligence and wisdom, blessed by blessings, remembered by all the Buddhas of the ten directions, adorned with a lion throne, praised by all the gods, Indra, and Brahma, with a beautiful form, never tiring of being seen, pleasing to behold, as solid and indestructible as a diamond, with a firm intention not to violate vows, controlled and held by skillful taming, always with the mind of enlightenment as a guide, following the complete qualities of aspiration and going as one pleases, possessing the divine eye that sees in all ten directions.
