What is mindfulness of the Buddha? It is mindfulness of the Buddha from discipline, and not falling away from the discipline of non-outflow. It is mindfulness of the Buddha from samadhi, and not changing from the equality of all realms of phenomena. It is also mindfulness of the Buddha from wisdom, and not conceptually elaborating that all phenomena are without movement. It is mindfulness of the Buddha from liberation, and not abiding in a second mind. It is mindfulness of the Buddha from seeing the wisdom of liberation, and not being attached to all knowledge. It is mindfulness of the Buddha from power, and not being moved by the wisdom that is equal to the three times. It is mindfulness of the Buddha from fearlessness, and not dwelling together with all outflows. It is also mindfulness of the Buddha from all the Buddha's teachings, and not conceptually elaborating the equality of the realm of phenomena. Furthermore, mindfulness of the Buddha is not truly seeing the Buddha from form, but knowing the nature of form, one also follows the wisdom of mindfulness. Likewise, one does not truly see the Buddha from feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, but knowing the nature of consciousness, one also follows the wisdom of mindfulness. One does not truly see the Buddha from the aggregates, elements, and sources, but knowing the nature of the aggregates, elements, and sources, one also follows the wisdom of mindfulness. Moreover, by knowing the nature of all phenomena, that mindfulness of great wisdom is without all mental activity, and all views do not arise. Such knowledge of mindfulness that is free from defilement, that is the mindfulness of the Buddha as granted by the Buddha. Furthermore, mindfulness of the Buddha is not being manifestly attached to the Buddha in all activities. Standing, walking, sitting, lying down, going, coming, speaking, and not speaking, one is also not manifestly attached to the Buddha. Because one is not manifestly attached, one does not remember remembering, and one does not remember not remembering. Because one does not mentally engage in remembering, form, characteristics, and...

In oneself, one does not remember the Buddha. Son of good family, this is the Buddha-given remembrance of the Buddha, which is without any practice of all characteristics and objects. Son of good family, what is the Buddha-given Dharma remembrance of the Bodhisattvas? Dharma means without desire. Therefore, no matter what Dharma one is attached to, there is no Dharma remembrance for them. Dharma means without alaya. Therefore, no matter where the Dharma is applied, there is no Dharma remembrance for them. Dharma means peaceful. Therefore, whatever makes the mind and intention burn, there is no Dharma remembrance for them. Dharma means without characteristics. Therefore, whatever consciousness follows characteristics, there is no Dharma remembrance for them. Dharma means unconditioned. Therefore, those who abide in the establishment of conditioned things have no Dharma remembrance. Furthermore, Dharma remembrance is seeing all formations as unborn, entering the realm of true and faultless. Bodhisattvas, knowing that all dharmas are unborn by nature, attain deep endurance of the unborn Dharma. Such a state is the state of true Dharma. Whoever realizes it in this way realizes all dharmas, which is realized by learners, non-learners, solitary Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and perfectly complete Buddhas. Such abiding is the liberation of all noble ones, in which no Dharma can be practiced. That no Dharma can be practiced is the Buddha-given Dharma remembrance. Son of good family, what is the Buddha-given Sangha remembrance of the Bodhisattva? Sangha means unconditioned, and cannot be remembered by manifest action. Wherever there is no practice of bodily action, verbal action, and mental action, it is called non-manifest action. Conditioned means designation and name. Unconditioned means completely destroying all designations. Name

That which is completely beyond all expressions, son of good family, this is the recollection of the Sangha given by the Tathagata. Son of good family, what is the recollection of generosity given by the Tathagata to the Bodhisattva? Generosity means abandoning and completely giving away all aggregates. Why is that? Because he has not given up any dharma. Thus, for him, no dharma that should be given up appears. For him, not grasping all dharmas is the supreme of generosity. Not grasping is not giving up. Not giving up is not being arrogant. Not being arrogant is not focusing. Not focusing is without the movement of mind. Without movement is without mental discrimination. Where there is no mental discrimination, there is no abiding of consciousness. No abiding of consciousness is the recollection of generosity given by the Tathagata. The generosity of the Bodhisattva is dedicated to all-knowingness, and all-knowingness is the equality of all dharmas. Abiding in equality is completely giving and also dedicating to Bodhi, and even recollecting it, there is no recollection of any dharma. Why is that? All-knowingness is not connected with both dharma and non-dharma, and without these two, there is nothing to be focused on. Son of good family, thus the Bodhisattva who is diligent in knowing the dharma is the recollection of generosity given by the Tathagata. Son of good family, what is the recollection of ethics given by the Tathagata to the Bodhisattva? Ethics means unconditioned, without outflows, without aspirations, spontaneously accomplished, asceticism accomplished, all asceticism completely perfected, and not the nature of discrimination. Abiding in Samadhi, it is not the object of the mind. It is the root of wisdom, not the nature of proliferation. It is the conforming cause of liberation, not divided by duality. It is praised by the wise, not an appearance of form. It is the pacification of afflictions, not the nature of individual discrimination. It is of all happiness.
