The Tathagatas correctly observe the Dharmakaya as equal, and although they fully mature sentient beings, they do not fixate on sentient beings because of the purity of sentient beings. Although they fully uphold all the sacred Dharma of all Buddhas, they do not correctly observe the Dharma that should be free from attachment. Son of the lineage, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva possesses these four qualities, their diligence is like the sky. Son of the lineage, these are the eight kinds of completely pure diligence of Bodhisattvas. What are the eight? They are: the body adorned with diligence, which is not fixated upon by wisdom, recognizing it as like an image; the words manifestly composed with diligence, which are not fixated upon, examining them in detail like an echo; the mind placed in the state of Samadhi with diligence, which is not fixated upon, examining it in detail with the Dharma-nature of the mind; although all aspects of the perfections are completely gathered with diligence, they are not fixated upon, examining them extremely with the Dharma-nature of the exhaustion of mind from one to another; although all the Dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment are correctly accomplished with diligence, enlightenment is not correctly observed, examining it in detail as a characteristic of a real entity; the Buddha-fields are purified with diligence, but the field is not fixated upon, examining it as being like the sky; all that is heard is held with diligence, and it is also correctly observed as being like an echo; all the Buddha-Dharmas are completely accomplished with diligence, and it is also not fixated upon, examining it in detail as the nature of the indivisible Dharmadhatu. Son of the lineage, these eight are the completely pure diligence of the Bodhisattvas. Son of the lineage, these two are the diligence of the Bodhisattvas, what are the two? They are: the diligence of application and the diligence of complete cessation. Among them, the diligence of application is being fully endowed with body, speech, and mind. The diligence of complete cessation is without taking, without abandoning, without a place.

When a Bodhisattva's diligence, combining body, speech, and mind, does not fundamentally abide, is thoroughly examined and not fixated upon, and is a completely severed diligence, it follows the realm of Dharma, thus following it. In this way, a Bodhisattva's diligence is like the sky. Just as the sky is formless and all sentient beings can freely move, so too the diligence of Bodhisattvas does not abide in all dharmas and fully matures all sentient beings. Just as the sky opens space for all forms and has no obstruction, so too the diligence of Bodhisattvas opens space for all sentient beings and is free from all views. Just as grass, forests, and crops grow from the sky, yet have no roots or dwelling, so too the diligence of Bodhisattvas generates all the Buddha's teachings, yet does not dwell in the root of the view of the perishable collection. Just as the sky pervades everywhere, yet is not of the nature of change, so too the diligence of Bodhisattvas follows all virtuous dharmas, yet is not of the nature of change. Just as the sky equally combines and shows various different forms, so too the diligence of Bodhisattvas equally combines all dharmas for all sentient beings and universally shows various different behaviors. When whatever a Bodhisattva does is with equality, it cannot be truly seen, and what is done is also examined and not fixated upon. Thus, a Bodhisattva's diligence is like the sky. Then, the Blessed One spoke these verses at that time: By the power of diligence, generating might, not even sparing body and life, the great being practices the Bodhi conduct, acting for the benefit of sentient beings, with a mind of benefit. In previous lives, as much as possible was created, for the sake of Bodhi's qualities, they revolve as much. They will never become weary of this, but will increasingly generate diligence. Striving to liberate inconceivable sentient beings, Buddha

Strive to offer the inconceivable. Strive to view the inconceivable realms. Strive to subdue the inconceivable demons. Strive to give inconceivable generosity. Strive to keep inconceivable morality. Strive to meditate on inconceivable patience. Strive to be virtuous with inconceivable diligence. Strive to contemplate inconceivable meditation. Strive to meditate on inconceivable wisdom. Strive to meditate on inconceivable love. Strive greatly to accomplish meaning and qualities. Strive without sparing life and body. Be completely liberated from all struggles with afflictions. Strive to manifest emptiness, liberation, and selflessness. Strive for the self-nature of greatness in selflessness. Strive again for liberation from views and for enlightenment. Strive for the nature of illusion and mirage. Attain the absence of mind, and even the mind that is not mind. Strive to teach the unwavering dharmas. Act in all beings and be completely liberated. Always strive to speak and read. Completely transcend both dharma and non-dharma. Strive for the nature of sound and letters. Speak thousands of sutras to beings. The qualities of the Buddhas are endless. The conduct of sentient beings is also endless. Always apply diligence to that wise one. Enter greatly into the endless conduct of sentient beings. These dharmas are unborn and unceasing. Those wise ones do not lose heart. Later and later, great waves of diligence arise greatly. Cause sentient beings to meditate on such dharmas. Son of the lineage, how is it that a Bodhisattva's meditation is equal to space? Son of the lineage, if you possess four qualities, a Bodhisattva's meditation is equal to space. What are the four? It is like this: the mind is well placed within, and it is not seen again that the mind dwells within. The mind is also turned away from the outside, and the movement of the mind outside is also not observed. With the equality of one's own mind, the minds of all sentient beings are also equally placed in equality. That equality of mind also equally places the mind in the dharma of illusion. Son of the lineage, if you possess these four qualities, a Bodhisattva's meditation is equal to space.
