The powerful lords benefit sentient beings, and afterwards there is no need to distinguish. Abiding in spontaneously accomplished activities, the powerful lords of the Victorious Ones teach the Dharma to beings. Son of lineage, furthermore, the Samadhi of the Tathagata is without deterioration. What is the Samadhi of the Tathagata? It is the equality of all dharmas, and the non-inequality of all dharmas, and all dharmas as they are. Why does the Samadhi of the Tathagata not deteriorate? Because that which is equal to suchness is equal to Samadhi. That which is equal to Samadhi is equal to the Tathagata, therefore it is called equal abiding. Whatever is the limit of attachment is equal to, the limit of detachment from attachment is also equal to that. Whatever is the limit of hatred is equal to, the limit of detachment from hatred is also equal to that. Whatever is the limit of delusion is equal to, the limit of detachment from delusion is also equal to that. Whatever is the limit of the conditioned is equal to, the limit of the unconditioned is also equal to that. Whatever is the limit of samsara is equal to, the limit of nirvana is also equal to that, by entering into equality with those, therefore it is called equal abiding. Therefore it is said that the Samadhi of the Tathagata is without deterioration. Why is that? Because equality is without deterioration, completely without deterioration. The Samadhi of the Tathagata is also not endowed with an eye, not with an ear, not with a nose, not with a tongue, not with a body, not with a mind, but the Tathagata is also not without faculties. The Samadhi of the Tathagata does not abide in the earth element, not in the water element, not in the fire element, and also does not abide in the wind element. It does not abide in the desire realm, does not abide in the form realm, does not abide in the formless realm, does not abide in this world, does not abide in the other world. Because it does not abide, there is no deterioration, therefore it is said that the Samadhi of the Tathagata is without deterioration. The Tathagata teaches the Dharma in order to cause all sentient beings to obtain Samadhi, this is the twenty-fourth activity of the Tathagata of the Tathagata. To that one should say this: The Buddha always abides equally, his Samadhi dete-

Without location. All dharmas are equally complete. The Buddha's equality abides equally. Not in earth, water, or fire, but in wind and desire, form, and formlessness. The Victorious One abides, but not in meditative absorption. Therefore, this samadhi does not diminish. Son of good family, furthermore, the Tathagata's wisdom does not diminish. What is wisdom? It is the complete understanding of all dharmas, the wisdom that does not rely on others. And the wisdom to truly teach the Dharma to other sentient beings and individuals. The wisdom to skillfully differentiate words by being proficient in individual correct understanding. The wisdom to know how to abide and teach for hundreds of thousands of kalpas by entering into a single word. The wisdom to dispel doubts as asked. The wisdom to be without attachment to anything. The wisdom to skillfully explain the distinctions of the three vehicles. The wisdom to fully know the eighty-four thousand mental conducts of sentient beings. The wisdom to know how to teach the Dharma appropriately for each of the eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma. This is the Tathagata's wisdom, boundless, endless, inexhaustible, and immeasurable, which is taught. Just as the Tathagata has no diminution and is completely without diminution, so too, in order to enable all sentient beings to have inexhaustible wisdom, the Dharma is taught. This is the twenty-fifth activity of the Tathagata of the Tathagatas. To that, one should say: With wisdom, the modes are manifest, individual correct understanding has reached the other shore. Intentionally, spontaneously, teaching the Dharma to sentient beings, one seed word enters into endless words. Having fully known the endless conduct of beings, likewise, even teaching eighty-four thousand dharmas, the Sugata's wisdom never diminishes, this activity of the ten powers is superior to the activity of beings. Son of good family, furthermore, the Tathagata's liberation does not diminish. What is the Tathagata's liberation? The liberation of the Hearers is following after sound. The liberation of the Solitary Buddhas is understanding conditions. The liberation of the Buddhas is called liberation because it is free from all attachment and grasping, not bound by the past extreme, nor moving to the future extreme, nor abiding in the present arising.
