Even in walking, sitting, and lying down, the Buddha's mind is never not equally abiding. Whether silent, speaking, eating, or drinking, the Tathagata abides in equality and is without distraction. If someone knows the mind of the Tathagata abiding in equality, that person does not exist even in the ten directions. How he abides in equality, so he walks, constantly teaching the Dharma, this is the work of the Tathagata. Furthermore, son of good family, with what kind of differentiated thought does the mind not abide in equality? The Tathagata does not have that kind of differentiated thought. Why is that? Because like space, the realms are inexhaustible, so the Tathagata has no differentiated thought about the realms. Because of the selflessness of nature, the Tathagata has no differentiated thought about sentient beings. Because of knowing that the realm of Dharma is unmixed and is of the nature of equality, the Tathagata has no differentiated thought about the Buddha-fields. Because of the Dharma-nature of being free from desire, the Tathagata has no differentiated thought about the Dharmas. The Tathagata has no attachment to those who possess discipline, nor anger towards those who break discipline. He does not think of repaying kindness to those who have shown kindness, nor does he think of retaliating against those who have harmed him. He is not unequal to those who should be tamed, nor does he revile those who hold wrong views. The Tathagata abides in equality in all Dharmas, therefore it is said that the Tathagata has no differentiated thought. How the Tathagata has no differentiated thought, so he teaches the Dharma in order to abandon the differentiated thoughts of all sentient beings, this is the nineteenth Tathagata-activity of the Tathagata. To this it should be said: For realms, sentient beings, and likewise for Dharmas, the Sugata has no differentiated thought. Those who abide in equality and are of great renown never have differentiated thoughts. For those who uphold discipline, for the faultless discipline, and for sentient beings who are fit to be tamed and difficult to tame, the supreme two-legged one has an equal mind, thereby liberating those who grasp at the differences of sentient beings. Furthermore, son of good family, the Tathagata does not have undifferentiated equanimity.

Do. Why is that? The Tathagata's equanimity is the practice of the path, not the non-practice of the path, namely, the practice of body, the practice of mind, and the practice of discipline. The Tathagata's equanimity is the practice of wisdom, not the non-practice. The Tathagata's equanimity is endowed with wisdom, not endowed with ignorance. The Tathagata's equanimity is beyond the world, not falling into the world. The Tathagata's equanimity is the definite arising of the noble ones, not the definite non-arising of the non-noble ones. The Tathagata's equanimity is the turning of the wheel of Dharma, not being separated from great compassion for sentient beings. That equanimity of the Tathagata is accomplished by its own nature, not following the antidote. It is not thinking of high, not thinking of low, but abiding immovably, being separated from the object, extremely transcending discrimination and elimination, observing the time, not exceeding the time, not moving, not thinking, not discriminating, not discriminating, not fabricating, not being indicated, true, only that, thusness, non-other thusness. The Tathagata teaches the Dharma in order to perfect such equanimity for all sentient beings with such perfect great equanimity. This is the twentieth act of the Tathagata of the Tathagatas. To this, one should say: Well-practiced supreme path, extremely cultivated, Undiscriminating equanimity is not existent. Supreme person, body and likewise mind, Discipline, wisdom, truth, extremely cultivated. Victorious one, without attachment and anger, Discrimination, non-discrimination, and fabrication are absent. Equanimity, true, not other than thusness, Thus it is, yet taught to all beings. Son of lineage, furthermore, the Tathagata's aspiration does not diminish. What is aspiration? For example, having aspiration for virtuous Dharma. What is that? For great love, the Tathagata's aspiration does not diminish. For great compassion, the Tathagata's aspiration does not diminish. For teaching the Dharma, aspiration diminishes.
