The Tathagata fully knows where it spreads. Having fully examined and taken hold of it, although the Tathagata has shown the ultimate end of the future, his wisdom will never reach the end. The Tathagata's knowledge of remembering past lives is inconceivable, incomparable, and immeasurable, but its ultimate state is not easy to show. The Tathagata, who has become the supreme among Buddhas, says to those sentient beings: O sentient beings, remember that you have generated roots of virtue in the Buddha, or in the Hearers, or in the Solitary Buddhas. Remember, remember, thus he makes them remember. Thus, by the power of the Buddha, they will also remember. The Tathagata teaches them that they will not turn back from liberation by any means or vehicle, because they focus on the roots of virtue. This is the eighth act of the Tathagata of the Tathagata. To that, it should be said: That is me and other beings like that, The edge of the past is billions of trillions, The lamp of the world remembers without end, Like five myrobalan plums placed in the palm of the hand. Name, lineage, as well as color, discrimination, Lifespan, dwelling, death, transmigration, and destination, By what cause did which sentient being come here, Knowing that time, he also teaches the Dharma to them. The minds of beings and the dharmas arising from the mind, Those that have passed are immeasurable and endless, And under what the mind will arise, The Victorious One with great wisdom knows all. What was the previous thought of one sentient being, The Sugata knows what has passed. In as many kalpas as the sands of the Ganges, Even if it is shown, it has no end. Even if countless past actions, Immeasurable and endless, have been shown, The incomparable wisdom is inexhaustible, The Sugata's wisdom is like an ocean. Which sentient beings have good thoughts, And who in the past have revered the Buddhas, Abiding in the power of the Buddha's miraculous power, He makes them remember the white deeds they did in the past. What kind of white deeds did they do in the past, By the power of the Buddha, they will remember. Having remembered that, they abide in the three vehicles.

Those do not turn back from the virtuous deeds of the path to liberation. The past deeds of the Sugatas are infinite, and all sentient beings are unable to conceive of them, because they have tamed endless sentient beings. These are the eight activities of the great beings. Son of the lineage, furthermore, the Tathagata, with his pure divine eye, far surpassing that of humans, sees sentient beings dying and being born, the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, those who go to the happy realms and those who go to the evil realms. Alas! These sentient beings are endowed with evil conduct of body, evil conduct of speech, and evil conduct of mind. They slander the noble ones and hold wrong views. Because of the cause of taking up the work of wrong views, after the destruction of their bodies and death, they fall into the evil destinies, evil paths, and wrong paths, and are born in the hells of sentient beings. These sentient beings are endowed with good conduct of body, good conduct of speech, and good conduct of mind. They do not slander the noble ones and hold right views. Because of the cause of taking up the work of right views, after the destruction of their bodies and death, they are born in the happy realms, in the heavenly worlds, among the gods. Thus, the Tathagata knows well how sentient beings go according to their karma. This is the divine eye of the Tathagata, with which he sees the ten directions of the world, filled with the realm of Dharma, reaching the limits of the realm of space, the immeasurable, the countless, the exceedingly countless Buddha-fields. In those Buddha-fields, whatever fields appear, he sees all of them being destroyed and formed. Whatever sentient beings appear, he sees all of them dying and being born. Whatever Bodhisattvas appear, he sees all of them dying, entering the womb, and being born. Whatever Buddhas appear, he sees all of them attaining complete enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, abandoning the activities of life, and passing into complete Nirvana. Whatever Shravakas appear, he sees all of them being liberated and passing into complete Nirvana.
