With the light of wisdom, one goes to countless places in the ten directions. The light of uncontaminated wisdom is equal and similar to the sky. The light of boundless merit, the initial direct cognition approaches beings. Its unattached wisdom cuts off the doubts of beings. The yogi who takes diligence as the essence manifests mindfulness, intelligence, realization, and Dharma knowledge. The light of truth is boundless, transforming into the light of direct cognition. Through practice, one obtains wisdom and prajna, vast intelligence and boundless courage, correct view and vipassana, and the ultimate state of being utterly unconfused. The eight lights that are extremely pure, whoever possesses these great powers, even if they have not yet attained enlightenment, will perform the deeds of a Buddha. The Bhagavan also said to the Bodhisattva King of Dhāraṇī Sovereignty: "Son of good family, Bodhisattvas generate great compassion for sentient beings in sixteen ways." What are the sixteen? Son of good family, here, a Bodhisattva thinks: "Alas, these sentient beings are bound by the view of the perishable aggregate, mixed with various views. In order to abandon all views, I should teach them the Dharma." Thus, great compassion of a Bodhisattva arises for sentient beings. "Alas, these sentient beings are perverted and mistaken, perceiving impermanence as permanence, suffering as happiness, non-self as self, and impurity as purity. In order to abandon all perversions, I should teach them the Dharma." Thus, great compassion of a Bodhisattva arises for sentient beings. "Alas, these sentient beings abide in self-grasping and grasping at what belongs to self, perceiving what is unreal as real. In order to abandon self-grasping and grasping at what belongs to self, I should teach them the Dharma." Thus, great compassion of a Bodhisattva arises for sentient beings. "Alas, these sentient beings are obscured by the five obscurations, tormented by the pain of desire, full of anger, and attached to dullness and sleep."

Furthermore, great compassion arises in the bodhisattva towards sentient beings, thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma to those who are filled with remorse for not being holy, and who have not attained certainty in the profound Dharma, in order to abandon all obscurations." Alas! These sentient beings are defiled by attachment to the six sense sources. Having seen forms with the eye, they grasp at signs and indications. They hear sounds with the ear, smell odors with the nose, taste flavors with the tongue, and touch tangible objects with the body. Having discriminated dharmas with the mind, they grasp at signs and indications. Thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma to them in order to abandon attachment to the six sense sources," great compassion arises in the bodhisattva towards sentient beings. Alas! These sentient beings are overcome by pride, excessive pride, pride beyond pride, the pride of 'I am,' manifest pride, the pride of thinking 'a little,' and wrong pride. Because they are inferior, they think, 'We are great,' and become conceited. Because they are equal, they think, 'We are great,' and become conceited. And because they are superior, they think, 'We are superior,' and become conceited. From accepting form as self to accepting consciousness as self, they think they have attained what they have not attained. They think of themselves as noble. They are devoted to wrong views as correct views. Thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma to them in order to abandon all forms of pride," great compassion arises in the bodhisattva towards sentient beings. Alas! These sentient beings have entered the wrong path and are separated from the noble path. Thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma to them in order to abandon the wrong path and attain the noble path," great compassion arises in the bodhisattva towards sentient beings. Alas! These sentient beings are slaves to craving, defiled by complete attachment to wives, sons, and daughters, and without independence, they cannot rely on themselves. Thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma to them so that they may have independence and be able to rely on themselves, and go wherever they please," great compassion arises in the bodhisattva towards sentient beings.
