Should be practiced, and because it is correctly seen that becoming accustomed to completely giving away all possessions will be realized, therefore, one should be combined with the perfection of generosity. And because it is correctly seen that I will not have an attachment to all things, therefore, one should be combined with the perfection of generosity. And because it is correctly seen that my perfection of generosity will be perfected, therefore, one should be combined with the perfection of generosity. And because it is correctly seen that one will enter in accordance with the teachings of the Thus Gone One, therefore, one should be combined with the perfection of generosity. Son of good family, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who sees these twelve benefits of merit should be combined with the perfection of generosity, and this generosity should be completely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Then, the Bhagavan at that time spoke these verses:

Seeing that I will transform, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that I will completely purify all paths of evil destinies, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that the actions of my body, speech, and mind will be without fault, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that I will not be reproached by the wise, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that I will rely on the Dharma of mindfulness, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. I Seeing that I will give the gift of fearlessness to all sentient beings, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that I will obtain the restraint of the actions of body, speech, and mind, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Seeing that I will accomplish all the Buddha's teachings, I should strive in the perfection of discipline. Son of lineage, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, having thus correctly seen these twelve benefits of merit, should strive in the perfection of discipline, and should dedicate this discipline to omniscience itself. Then, the Blessed One spoke these verses at that time: My bonds of affliction will loosen, I will close the door to evil destinies, the wise, having thus fully contemplated the benefits, should guard discipline like a yak's tail. I follow the Buddha's teachings, I will follow the Sugata, and I will always be praised by the Sugata, my blessings will not become meaningless, one should guard discipline saying that discipline will transform from (evil) places. Body and speech are without fault, the mind is without flaw, and one will practice the Dharma. The body is guarded, and the speech is guarded, and the mind will not think of evil. Mindfulness is praised by the Sugata, it is of virtuous deeds

Whatever becomes the root, one should always abide in it with mindfulness and self-control. All carelessness should always be completely abandoned. In the supreme abode of the perfection of discipline, I shall attain the Buddha's dharmas. The Buddha's discipline should be thoroughly practiced. This is the supreme discipline, as the noble ones have said. Whoever desires to attain those qualities, and bodhisattvas who desire supreme enlightenment, should guard their discipline like a yak's tail. The wise will quickly attain all qualities. Son of good family, furthermore, a bodhisattva mahasattva who possesses such dharmas should cultivate patience in twelve ways. What are the twelve? They are as follows: Thus, all conditioned phenomena are momentary, one should cultivate patience. One should cultivate patience in order not to focus on self. One should cultivate patience in order to completely protect oneself and others. One should cultivate patience in order to completely eliminate conflict. One should cultivate patience in order to completely remove latent tendencies and all entanglements. One should cultivate patience in order to abandon attachment and anger. One should cultivate patience in order to perfectly accomplish the marks and signs of excellence. One should cultivate patience in order to obtain birth in the Brahma realm. One should cultivate patience in order to completely escape from all harm from others. One should cultivate patience in order to attain the knowledge of exhaustion and the knowledge of non-arising. One should cultivate patience in order to completely escape from all the realms of demons. One should cultivate patience by truly seeing the immeasurable body of the Tathagata. Son of good family, a bodhisattva mahasattva should cultivate patience in these twelve ways, and that patience should also be dedicated to omniscience. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Alas! Dharmas are momentary and impermanent, and no being can find anything in them. If one thoroughly understands the dharmas of qualities, one will abide in the qualities of the noble Buddha. Having completely abandoned the two extremes, there will always be no harm to oneself and others.
