There is no such thing as not practicing purity in this way! There is no such thing as not exhausting all defilements in this way! There is no such thing as not showing the faults of samsara in this way! There is no such thing as not practicing nirvana in this way! There is no such thing as not conforming to the conduct of a Bodhisattva in this way! Great King, all the actions of a Bodhisattva are to completely accomplish the benefit of oneself, the benefit of others, and the benefit of both! When the son of the naked one, True Speech, taught this doctrine, King Tumultuous Light obtained irreversible faith. Sixteen young princes obtained faith called "the realm of the power of joy." Eighty thousand sons of gods obtained the samadhi called "the adornment of the Buddha." Thirty thousand people from the king's palace and from among the retinue of the son of the naked one generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. All of them offered their own clothes to the son of the naked one, True Speech, in order to cover him with Dharma, and they spoke these words: "We have seen a noble son like True Speech and heard this Dharma that accords with it, so we have obtained a great benefit!" After saying this, they also spoke these words: "True Speech, please come, let us go to see the Bhagavan, to prostrate to him, and to serve and honor him! That Tathagata is dwelling in our own garden!" True Speech said: "Everyone come! Together with the king, together with the army, together with the ministers, together with the people of the town, together with the people of the country, together with the people of the retinue, let us go together in harmony with great pomp!" Then King Tumultuous Light rang the bell of proclamation in all the cities, proclaiming: "Whoever does not go to the Tathagata will be punished with death!" Then all the men, women, boys, and girls of the city heard the command of King Tumultuous Light, and taking flowers, incense, garlands, unguents, cymbals, and drums, they went to the city.

The great venerable one, having emerged from the noble city, prepared to go to the garden, and stayed and settled with King Tumporabnang (Violent Light). Then, King Tumporabnang, together with the son of the naked ones, Satyavadin (Truth Speaker), together with the assembly of ministers, together with the young prince, together with the army, together with the retinue of consorts, together with the townspeople and the villagers, together with the attendants and the gatekeepers, all surrounded him, and with a great array of forces clearing the way, umbrellas, banners, and pennants were raised, countless cymbals made a resounding noise, the sounds of dance, song, and music were proclaimed, the sounds of the musical instruments Kimapala, Nakula, Khardrol, and the flute were sounded, horses and elephants made noises. Those holding countless auspicious vases tied with golden threads were led in front, together with the elephant charioteers, the horse charioteers, and ninety-eight hundred thousand living beings, with the king's great power, the king's great wealth, the king's great transformation, and the king's great amusement, they went to their own garden, and to where the Bhagavan was, and having arrived, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated three times, and sat down on one side. The son of the naked ones, Satyavadin, also with his retinue, bowed his head at the feet of the Bhagavan, circumambulated hundreds of thousands of times, and with palms joined, sat gazing at the Bhagavan without blinking. Then, the venerable Shariputra saw the son of the naked ones, Satyavadin, sitting before the Bhagavan, gazing at the Bhagavan without blinking. Having seen this, he thought to himself: Alas, what does this son of the naked ones, Satyavadin, want? Why has he come here? Having thus contemplated, he said to the son of the naked ones, Satyavadin: Satyavadin, what do you want that you have come to the Tathagata? Do you want to see the Bhagavan? Or do you want to hear the Dharma? Having said this, the son of the naked ones, Satyavadin

Thus. The venerable Saradvatiputra spoke thus. Venerable Saradvatiputra, I do not wish to see the Blessed One. Nor do I wish to hear the Dharma. Venerable Saradvatiputra, I do not wish for all Dharmas, therefore I come to the place of the Blessed One. Why is that? Venerable Saradvatiputra, seeing form is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the earth element is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the water element, fire element, and wind element is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing self is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing sentient beings and life is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing a person is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing self-grasping is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing grasping at what belongs to self is not seeing the Tathagata. Seeing signs is not seeing the Tathagata. Therefore, venerable Saradvatiputra, not seeing all signs is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing non-attachment is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing non-existence is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing no self-nature is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing true infinity is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the eye detached from desire for form is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the ear without discrimination towards sound is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the nose without alteration towards smell is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the tongue without seeing consciousness towards taste is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the body without seeing touch towards the tangible is seeing the Tathagata. Seeing the mind without conceptualizing towards Dharmas is seeing the Tathagata. Saradvatiputra said: Truly speaking, if seeing in this way is seeing the Tathagata, then how should one view the Tathagata? Truly speaking, he said: Venerable Saradvatiputra, the Tathagata should not be viewed by lineage. He should not be viewed by clan. He should not be viewed by characteristics. He should not be viewed by the absence of characteristics.
