Just as wanting clothes but going to the cemetery, wanting to apply oil but smearing it on the sky, similarly, being attached to the places enjoyed by those with beautiful appearances, and seeking the wisdom of omniscience through the abodes of two bodies that indulge in pleasure, that effort is fruitless. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva named Dhāraṇīmati, having gathered in that assembly and being seated, bowed with folded palms towards where the Blessed One was and said this: Blessed One, can that which is unspeakable be fully awakened to perfect enlightenment? The Blessed One replied: Knowing that which is unspeakable is itself fully awakened to perfect enlightenment. Therefore, son of good family, I ask you, answer as you can endure. Is there any entity with the characteristic of substance that can obtain the name of the All-Knowing One? He replied, if I were to say there is, then it would become permanent; if I were to say there is not, then it would become annihilation. The Middle Way has no object, because it is neither existent nor non-existent. That which does not cling, does not arise, does not cease, has no measure, has no number, has no example, has no appearance, seeking that is the attainment of perfect enlightenment. Bodhisattva Electric Intelligence asked: Blessed One, to skillfully enter into the knowledge of that which has neither going nor coming is the attainment of perfect enlightenment. Bodhisattva Illuminating All asked: Blessed One, in which there is neither the characteristic of attainment nor the characteristic of non-attainment, neither realization nor manifestation, neither peace nor supreme peace, neither the three times nor the three vehicles, nor the conceit of being equal to aspirations, this is the attainment of perfect enlightenment. Bodhisattva Dhāraṇīmati asked: Blessed One, in which there are neither the three realms, nor the three bonds, nor the three knowledges, nor the three vehicles, and there is no conceptualization of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, nor any discrimination, neither decreasing nor increasing,

I do not exist, nor do I degenerate; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Vajra Wisdom asked: Not to discriminate, not to completely discriminate, and not to equally attend to the dharmas of ordinary beings, the dharmas of noble ones, the dharmas of learners, the dharmas of non-learners, the dharmas of hearers, and the dharmas of solitary buddhas; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Steadfast Wisdom asked: To contemplate Suchness in a solitary manner, and not to manifestly cling; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Jewel-in-Hand asked: In order to attain the characteristic of non-arising of all dharmas, and in order to manifestly realize it, not to discriminate; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Inconceivable Wisdom asked: To engage in the three realms and to cause mind itself to enter into mind; if one contemplates the two minds with mind, they are not perceived; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Victorious over Enemies asked: Not to be attached to all dharmas, not to be subsequently attached, not to abandon, not to be angry, not to be greedy, not to be ignorant, not to grasp, not to relinquish; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Lotus Essence asked: Not to be attached to merit and demerit, and by entering into the way of profound patience, not to discriminate self-grasping and grasping of what belongs to self; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Moonbeam Youth asked: To thoroughly understand that all dharmas are like the moon in water, and not to see the nature of dharmas, such as arising and ceasing; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment. The Bodhisattva Sky Wisdom Youth asked: For mind and mental events, darkness and light, arising and ceasing, increase and decrease, all do not arise; this is manifest complete perfect enlightenment.
