In the land of Sukhavati, the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One, the Foe-Destroyer, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha Amitayus, is now surrounded by a gathering of Bodhisattvas and dwells in front, being honored. They think, 'He is teaching the Dharma.' They also remember the Thus-Gone One with an undistracted mind. Well-Guarded One, for example, any man or woman who sees various forms in a dream while sleeping, sees money, gold, friends, relatives, in-laws, lovers, and things that are lovely, beautiful, and harmonious. In the dream, they play with them, enjoy happiness and various pleasures, and talk and chat. When they wake up, they tell others everything they have seen, heard, distinguished, known, said, and chatted about. They recall the signs of the dream and shed tears. Similarly, Well-Guarded One, a Bodhisattva, whether a householder or an ordained person, goes alone to a secluded place and dwells there. They remember the Thus-Gone One, the Foe-Destroyer, the Perfectly Awakened Buddha Amitayus, in the manner they have heard. With flawless discipline and undistracted mindfulness, they remember for one day, two days, three days, four days, five days, six days, or seven days. If they remember the Thus-Gone One Amitayus without distraction for seven days, then after those seven days have passed completely, they will see the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One Amitayus. If they do not see the Blessed One during the day, then in a dream while sleeping, the Blessed One, the Thus-Gone One Amitayus, will show them his face. Well-Guarded One, for example, a woman or a man in a dream while sleeping does not know whether they are at home or whether they are somewhere else. Their eyes are not obstructed by walls, nor are they obscured by darkness and dimness. Similarly, Well-Guarded One, that Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also not obstructed by worldly barriers, Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains, and the king of mountains.
