菩萨摩诃萨没有嫉妒，没有痛苦，远离昏沉和睡眠，远离各种障碍，不赞美自己，不诽谤他人。善守护，如果具有这四种法，菩萨摩诃萨就能获得这个三摩地。善守护，此外，菩萨摩诃萨具有信心，并且非常善良，对年长者、中年者和年轻者都恭敬有加，并且有礼貌。知恩图报，即使是小小的恩惠也会报答，更何况是大的恩惠呢？安住于真实的语言，不说其他的话。善守护，如果具有这五种法，菩萨摩诃萨就能获得这个三摩地。然后，那时世尊说了这些偈颂： 对于甚深之法生起忍耐， 并且诽谤一切众生， 不希望一切六道众生， 这样的人就能迅速获得三摩地。 不依赖于一切外道的攻击， 也不听秘密的言语，如何能执持？ 对于五种欲妙感到厌倦， 这样的人就能迅速获得三摩地。 戒律清净，安住于梵行， 对于妇女，连念头也不生起， 断除贪欲，成为善逝之子， 这样的人就能迅速获得三摩地。 不期望异熟而行布施， 没有依赖地布施，不痛苦， 除了触及佛陀的智慧之外， 布施之后没有丝毫的愿望。 为了众生的慈悲而行布施， 没有悲伤，也没有后悔， 恒常安住于布施、调伏和约束， 这样的人就能获得这个三摩地。 无论是谁，不吝啬的施主行布施， 给予丰盛和令人满意的布施， 布施之后，他的心也会感到快乐， 这样的人就能获得这个三摩地。 善逝所说的甚深而寂静 的，丰盛的经部都受持， 无论是谁，成为佛法的施主， 这样的人就能获得这个三摩地。 恒常安住于佛法之后， 安住于忍耐和精进，没有嫉妒， 其他

A Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is without jealousy, without suffering, free from drowsiness and sleep, free from all obscurations, not praising himself, not disparaging others. O Good Guardian, if he possesses these four qualities, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva will attain this Samadhi. O Good Guardian, furthermore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva is endowed with faith and is very kind. He is respectful and courteous to the elderly, middle-aged, and young. He is grateful and acknowledges kindness. If he repays even a small kindness, what need is there to mention a great one? He abides in truthful speech and does not speak otherwise. O Good Guardian, if he possesses these five qualities, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva will attain this Samadhi. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke these verses: Generating patience for the profound Dharma, And disparaging all beings, Not desiring all six realms of beings, Such a one will quickly attain Samadhi. Not relying on all external adversaries, And not listening to secret words, how can he grasp? Becoming weary of the five qualities of desire, Such a one will quickly attain Samadhi. With pure morality, abiding in celibacy, Not even generating thoughts about women, Having abandoned desire, becoming a son of the Sugata, Such a one will quickly attain Samadhi. Giving alms without expecting maturation, Giving without reliance, not suffering, Except for touching the Buddha's wisdom, Giving alms without the slightest wish. Giving alms for the sake of compassion for sentient beings, Without sorrow and without regret, Always abiding in generosity, discipline, and restraint, Such a one will attain this Samadhi. Whoever, an unselfish patron, gives alms, Giving abundant and pleasing gifts, Having given, his mind will also become joyful, Such a one will attain this Samadhi. The profound and peaceful words spoken by the Sugata, Holding the abundant Sutras, Whoever becomes a patron of the Dharma, Such a one will attain this Samadhi. Having always abided in the Dharma, Abiding in patience and diligence, without jealousy, Others

若人嗔怒不生嗔，如是之人得此定。何人若欲得此定，为使此法久住世，亦为他人作宣说，书写受持而安住，如是之人得此定。任何人亦不悭吝法，唯除欲成善逝子，不为利养及恭敬，如是之人得此法。无有嫉妒断除诸垢染，远离睡眠且无有痛苦，不赞自方亦不毁他方，如是得无我觉慧不难。具有信心且无有谄诳，于佛法僧众皆具信，如是知恩且能报恩者，如是之人少分亦不难。恒常宣说真实之语者，小或少或多或好皆随之，任何人不令善行成无果，欲求正法得之亦不甚难。持守净戒守护所作者，任何之人若能受持此法，如是得菩提不甚难者，何况寂静三摩地耶？善护所问三摩地品第十六竟。善护我以神通了知，于过去时如来燃灯佛现见后，由此我得此三摩地。我得此三摩地后，即刻我见无量无数之诸佛薄伽梵，显现于我眼前。亦闻彼等宣说圣法，所有彼等所说我皆如所闻而受持。彼等诸佛薄伽梵亦于我授记云：‘婆罗门童子汝于未来时，将成如来应供正遍知释迦牟尼佛，具足明行足，善逝，世间解，无上调御丈夫，天人师，佛薄伽梵。’善护是故汝当修学此圣者所弃舍，远离一切相之法。是故汝等安住此三摩地者，乃为至上。
English
If one does not become angry when angered, such a person will attain this samadhi. Whoever desires this samadhi and in order to make this Dharma last long, also explains it to others, writes and keeps it, such a person will attain this samadhi. Anyone who is not stingy with the Dharma, except for wanting to become a Sugata's son, does not explain it for gain and respect, such a person will attain this Dharma. Without jealousy, completely abandoning defilements, free from sleep and without suffering, not praising oneself nor disparaging others, thus it is not difficult to attain the understanding of selflessness. Possessing faith and without deceit or guile, having faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, thus knowing kindness and being able to repay kindness, thus it is not difficult to attain even a little. Constantly speaking truthful words, whether small, few, many, or good, accordingly, anyone who does not let good deeds become fruitless, desiring the true Dharma, it will not be very difficult to attain. Holding pure morality and guarding what has been done, whoever can uphold this Dharma, thus it is not very difficult to attain enlightenment, what need is there to mention this peaceful samadhi? The Sixteenth Chapter, "Samadhi Questioned by Bhadrapala," is complete. Bhadrapala, I know through clairvoyance that in the past, immediately after seeing the Tathagata Dipamkara Buddha, I obtained this samadhi from that. As soon as I obtained this samadhi, immediately I saw countless Buddhas, Bhagavan, appearing before my eyes. I also heard them expounding the sacred Dharma, and I retained all that they said as I heard it. Those Buddhas, Bhagavan, also prophesied to me, 'Brahmin youth, in the future, you will become the Tathagata, Arhat, Samyaksambuddha Shakyamuni Buddha, endowed with knowledge and conduct, Sugata, Knower of the World, unsurpassed tamer of beings, teacher of gods and humans, Buddha Bhagavan.' Therefore, Bhadrapala, you should study this Dharma that is abandoned by noble children, free from all characteristics. Therefore, you who abide in this samadhi are supreme.
