and the Sangha, even the smallest offenses should be regarded as fearful, and behavior should be completely pure. One should study the foundations of training that have been correctly undertaken. One should have faith in the profound, and one should endure the absence of focus. Having heard the teachings on emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, one should not be afraid, one should not be alarmed, one should not become alarmed. O Good Guardian, thus a Bodhisattva who has gone forth from the household life has completely pure morality, and his morality is without fault. The Bodhisattva Good Guardian asked: O Blessed One, how is it that a Bodhisattva who has gone forth from the household life has impure morality and has defects in morality? The Blessed One said: O Good Guardian, a Bodhisattva who has gone forth from the household life, some abide in form and practice celibacy, abide in feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness and practice celibacy, and say, "By this morality, asceticism, and celibacy of mine, may I become a god or some god." This, O Good Guardian, is a Bodhisattva who has gone forth from the household life whose morality is not completely pure and whose morality has faults. For example, holding the notion of existence as supreme, desiring to rely on the desire for it, and desiring to grasp the place of birth in existence, therefore morality is not completely pure. O Good Guardian, therefore, a Bodhisattva who has gone forth from the household life, if he hears of this samadhi and wishes to explain or meditate on it, then he should make his morality completely pure, he should make his morality without fault, he should not make his morality a lure, he should not make his morality degenerate, he should not make his morality coarse, he should make it a morality without support, a morality without attachment, a morality without focus, an indestructible morality, a morality praised by the wise, a morality praised by the noble ones. He should be happy to give, for example, the best of giving, the unsurpassed giving, diligent in the giving of Dharma.

One should strive diligently. One should abide in mindfulness. One should possess faith. One should possess shame and conscientiousness. One should be perfectly endowed with modesty. One should not be overly attached to gains, respect, and praise. One should be without stinginess and jealousy, and one should reduce the merits of learning and the necessary implements. One should completely abandon worldly talk and focus on speech that transcends the world. One should be grateful and repay kindness. One should be soft-spoken and speak little. One should be respectful and humble. For example, because virtuous friends are difficult to find, one should be eager to serve and honor teachers and preceptors. From whomever one hears, receives, and writes these teachings in books, and relies on verbal instructions, and from whom one is able to fully understand, or be able to fully understand, or copy, or write such sutras, one should generate the perception of them as parents. One should generate the perception of them as virtuous friends. One should generate the perception of them as teachers. In order to fully mature the meaning of these teachings and enlightenment, one should generate even more joy, faith, and respect for them. Well-Guarded, if sons or daughters of noble families of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, the Hearer Vehicle, or the Solitary Realizer Vehicle do not generate joy, faith, and respect for the monks who teach these teachings, and do not generate the perception of them as virtuous friends and teachers, Well-Guarded, sons or daughters of noble families of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, the Hearer Vehicle, or the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, it is impossible and there is no opportunity for those teachings that have not been fully understood to be fully understood, and for those teachings that have been fully understood to remain, not decline, and not disappear. It is also impossible for a son of a Bodhisattva Vehicle family to attain this samadhi. Well-Guarded, why is that? Because of disrespect.

It is for the sake of the disappearance of the true Dharma. Good Guardian, if a son or daughter of a bodhisattva vehicle lineage, or a son or daughter of a shravaka or pratyekabuddha vehicle lineage, for those monks who teach such Dharma, and for anyone who is able to understand, has understood, and has written in books such Dharma categories, generate joy, faith, and reverence, and also cultivate the perception of a virtuous friend and the perception of a teacher. Good Guardian, a son or daughter of a bodhisattva vehicle, shravaka vehicle, or pratyekabuddha vehicle lineage, those Dharmas that have not been understood will be able to be understood, and the Dharmas that have been understood will remain, will not be exhausted, and will not disappear. This is a place that exists, it is indeed a place that exists. Good Guardian, therefore you should have faith, you should understand. Like this, for the monks who teach such Dharma, one should generate joy, faith, and reverence. One should regard them as virtuous friends and generate the perception of a teacher, this is my teaching. Good Guardian, furthermore, a bodhisattva who has renounced the household life, if he wishes to receive and practice this samadhi, should be free from regret. He should rejoice in solitude, rely on solitude, incline towards solitude, and dwell in solitude. He should not particularly delight in the regions of villages. Not desiring the houses of friends and the houses of almsgivers, he should not regard his life. By giving up the body, he should not be attached to the body, and he should attain the perception of solitude. He should not rely on gains, respect, and praise, and he should fully embrace the true Dharma. He should not be attached to or covet the alms bowl and Dharma robes. He should not need to be invited to feasts, but should live by begging for alms. He should be cautious and possess shame. He should not possess gold. Because there is no arising from anything, he is free from regret. Having abandoned anger, he should abide in loving-kindness. Having abandoned harm, he should abide in compassion.
