Non-existent, non-demonstrable, invisible, not an object of consciousness. How can the formless, non-demonstrable, invisible, not an object of consciousness, Bodhi of an illusory mind be manifested and become enlightened? One should train in this way. Good Guardian, the Bodhisattva should train in this way: The body cannot manifest and become enlightened. The mind cannot manifest and become enlightened. The mind's absence of mind also cannot manifest and become enlightened. The form's absence of form also cannot manifest and become enlightened. The mind's mind also cannot manifest and become enlightened. The form's form also cannot manifest and become enlightened, one should train in this way. Good Guardian, what is the reason for this? The body of the Tathagata is one that has completely abandoned all clinging. Therefore, the Tathagata observes the body in the body and acts. He observes the mind in the mind and acts. Good Guardian, the wisdom that thoroughly understands all dharmas, formless, non-demonstrable, invisible, not an object of consciousness, unpolluted wisdom, also cannot manifest and become enlightened. Cannot manifest and become enlightened, also cannot not manifest and become enlightened. What is the reason for this? Thus, the bodies of the Tathagatas are unpolluted. The minds of the Tathagatas are unpolluted. The form of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, is also unpolluted. The feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, are also unpolluted. Then, what need is there to say that the ethics, or samadhi, or wisdom, or liberation, or the wisdom-vision of liberation of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, are unpolluted? Good Guardian, all the dharmas of the Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, are also unpolluted. The Tathagatas, the Arhats, the perfectly enlightened Buddhas, with the supreme

Or whatever Dharma is spoken, taught, or held, is also without outflows. Unintelligent children do not understand it, but the wise truly realize it. Well-Guarded, at that time, the Bodhisattva should train in this way: 'Will enlightenment be attained through the body, or will perfect enlightenment be attained through wisdom?' One should train in this way. Well-Guarded, for this, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should train in this way: 'Enlightenment will not be attained through the body, nor through wisdom.' Why is that? Because wisdom is without outflows and cannot be found even when searched for in every way. Therefore, due to that reason, one becomes indifferent to seeking enlightenment. Why is that? Because enlightenment is also without outflows and cannot be found even when searched for in every way. Therefore, one cannot find one's own body and one's own mind even when searching for them. Therefore, one cannot find all Dharmas even when searching for them in that way. One cannot find who attains perfect enlightenment. One cannot find who attains enlightenment. One cannot find or see what is to attain perfect enlightenment. When one sees all Dharmas in that way, one does not see them truly. Although one does not truly see that all Dharmas are naturally peaceful, they are not naturally peaceful. Why is that? Because what is unborn is not pacified. Therefore, one conceives of all unborn peaceful Dharmas as peaceful Dharmas. One conceives of all peaceful Dharmas as being separate from peace. Therefore, having examined in that way, one should not conceive of Dharmas as being peaceful, nor should one conceive of them as being unpeaceful. Well-Guarded, why is that? Because all Dharmas are unborn and not fully established. Well-Guarded, for example, if someone says, 'I will extinguish this fire' when the fire has not been blown and ignited, Well-Guarded, what do you think? Is that person speaking truthfully? Well-Guarded replied, 'Venerable Bhagavan, no.' The Bhagavan said, 'Well-Guarded, it is the same.'

Because all dharmas are unattainable. If someone says, "Apart from worldly conventions, I will fully know all dharmas. I will abandon all dharmas. I will realize all dharmas. I will meditate on all dharmas. I will pacify all dharmas. I will attain all dharmas. I will attain the fruit of stream-enterer. I will attain the fruit of once-returner. I will attain the fruit of non-returner. I will attain the state of Arhat. I will attain Pratyekabuddhahood. I will realize unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Having realized unexcelled, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, I will teach the Dharma. I will completely liberate sentient beings from samsara," if someone says this, are they speaking truthfully? Bhadra Surakshita asked, "Venerable Bhagavan, that is not so." The Bhagavan said, "Bhadra Surakshita, therefore, a son or daughter of good family who desires perfect, complete enlightenment, a son or daughter of good family who desires Pratyekabuddhahood, and one who desires the state of Arhat, should examine those dharmas in that way. Having examined those dharmas in that way, one should not contemplate that dharmas are peaceful. Nor should one contemplate that dharmas are not peaceful. Bhadra Surakshita, why is that? Because, for someone who contemplates that all dharmas are peaceful with respect to all dharmas that are nonexistent, unborn, and unestablished, this is one extreme. If one contemplates that all dharmas are not peaceful, this is the second extreme. Bhadra Surakshita, not perceiving, not conceptualizing, not fabricating, not attending, and not universally engaging in these two extremes of peaceful and not peaceful, this is called the Middle Way in the teaching of worldly conventions in terms of enumeration, but in ultimate truth, there is no extreme or middle to be found in this. Bhadra Surakshita, why is that? Because all dharmas are like the sky, equal to nirvana, they are
