It is not born from anywhere. Why is that? The Thus-Gone One has entered into the samadhi of stopping all feelings, is separated from feelings, has attained the supreme of all feelings, has completely subdued all suffering, has abandoned all afflictions and torments and harms, is not bound, is not liberated, has not completely passed beyond sorrow, and is the realm of sorrowlessness without turbidity. The Thus-Gone One is unborn, non-discriminating, unseen, unheard, unsmellable, untastable, unknowable, without characteristics, untouchable, and not to be distinguished. Thinking thus, if one examines each separately, feeling is not the Thus-Gone One, nor is it other than feeling. Why is that? If something other than feeling were to become the Thus-Gone One, then grass and trees and vines, medicines and creepers, and all forests would also become the Thus-Gone One. Why is that? Because grass and trees and vines, medicines and intertwined creepers, and all forests are without feeling. Thus, one contemplates separately: if feeling is not the Thus-Gone One, nor is it other than feeling, then is perception the Thus-Gone One? Or is it something other than perception? Thus, one contemplates separately: perception is not the Thus-Gone One, nor is it other than perception. Why is that? Perception is like a mirage, it necessarily arises from the aggregation of eye and form and appearance and attention. The Thus-Gone One is not perception, is not like a mirage, does not necessarily arise from eye and form and appearance and attention. It does not arise from the aggregation of eye and form and appearance and attention as perception does. Why is that? The Thus-Gone One is inconceivable, not to be thought about, without mind, separated from mind, without equal mind, without entering into going, without entering into coming, without going, completely cutting off going, not measurable, indivisible, without holes, not substance, not different, truly undifferentiated, without fabrication, without abiding, and untouchable.

So I thought. Thus, individually examining, perception is not the Tathagata, nor is it other than perception. If something other than perception were to become the Tathagata, then all trees and clods of earth would also become the Tathagata. Why is that? Because all trees and clods of earth are without perception. Thus, individually examining, if perception is not the Tathagata, nor is it other than perception, then are the formations the Tathagata? Or is it something other than the formations? So I thought. Thus, individually examining, the formations are not the Tathagata, nor are they other than the formations. Why is that? Because the formations are without substance, false, of a deceptive nature, arising from the aggregation of ignorance. The formations are produced from the aggregation of ignorance. The Tathagata is not without substance, not false, not of a deceptive nature, not born from the aggregation of ignorance as the formations are. Why is that? Because the Tathagata is one who has entered into the samadhi of stopping ignorance, having completely transcended the samadhi of acting in form with characteristics, and the immovable samadhi, having nearly accomplished the cessation of perception and feeling, and abides therein. The Tathagata is peaceful, invisible, unseeable, infinite, like a cloud, not completely pacified, nor not completely pacified, separated from peace, without peace, pure, without afflictions, without grasping, without loving-kindness, without revolving, separated from revolving, abiding in a non-abiding manner, without knots, without dying, not changing into dying, not dharma, nor not dharma, not a field, nor not a field, not inexhaustible, nor not inexhaustible, separated from exhaustion, momentary, unperturbed, so I thought. Thus, individually examining, the formations are not the Tathagata, nor are they other than the formations. Why is that? If something other than the formations were to become the Tathagata, then

The Tathagata becomes without substance. Why is that? Because non-substance is not something fabricated. Thus, discriminate and contemplate: If the fabrications are not the Tathagata, nor are they different from the fabrications, then, would consciousness become the Tathagata? Or would one think there is something different from consciousness? Thus, discriminate and contemplate: Consciousness is not the Tathagata, nor is it different from consciousness. Why is that? Consciousness is like an illusion, false and not real, born from the aggregation of fabrications, improper attention, born from aggregation. The Tathagata is not false, not unreal, improper attention is not necessarily born from aggregation, like consciousness, improper attention is not born from aggregation. Why is that? The Tathagata is separated from mind, intellect, and consciousness, without letters, without sound, without object, without substance, without mind, not possessing, nor not possessing, without wisdom, nor without wisdom, without realization, nor without realization, without going, nor without going, without duality, not to be done as duality, unsurpassable, without characteristics, separated from characteristics, not characteristics, unelaborated, not a door, without attachment, separated from attachment, harmonizing, completely distinguished by suchness, not only that, nor not only that, so it is thought. Thus, discriminate and contemplate: Consciousness is not the Tathagata, nor is it different from consciousness. If something different from consciousness were to become the Tathagata, then even an eye-flicker would become the Tathagata. Why is that? Because an eye-flicker is not consciousness. Thus, discriminate and contemplate: The Tathagata is not observed from the past, not from the future, nor is it observed from the present arising. Because it is unobservable, it is not thought. It is not discriminated. If it is not thought, it does not abide separately. If it does not abide separately, it does not scatter.
