I uphold the precepts in a pure place, with a heart that is upright and firm, and having understood the true characteristics of all Dharmas, I am then allowed to expound the Dharma on a high Dharma seat. Shariputra, it is easy to punish a monk who has broken his vows. Using the appearance of a noble one and Dharma robes as a disguise to conceal the stains of sin, secretly engaging in many evil deeds, do not be attached to the offerings given by others with faith. Shariputra, for the sake of small causes and conditions, one will endure the body of a sentient being in hell for a long time. Chapter Ten, entitled "Entrustment." At that time, Ananda reported to the Buddha, "Venerable One, in such times, how will the monks be diligent in virtuous Dharma?" The Buddha said to Ananda, "Put it aside for now, do not ask this question. Why? Because all the immeasurable wisdom Dharmas spoken by the Buddha, if the monks of that time cannot generate faith, then there is no need to mention diligent practice." Ananda, all the wisdom about the Dharma that the Tathagata possesses, even the Shravakas and all Arhats, etc., cannot understand and know. Ananda, if the Tathagata were to tell you all the Dharmas that he knows, you might be confused and fooled, then there is no need to mention not believing. The Tathagata speaks of such Dharmas, if at that time foolish people do not even generate faith, then there is no need to mention generating faith and being able to answer foolish questions. Ananda, the law of Dharma is like this, if one's own body feels comfortable, one says that others are the same. Until now, a lazy monk, in such a long time, cannot catch up with a diligent monk. All upholding of precepts and growth of wisdom are impossible. If the Tathagata were to say all the evil deeds that person has done, that person would not believe everything he has experienced, and the sin would only become heavier. You will also be afraid because the evil retribution he endures is immeasurable. Ananda, it is difficult for the Tathagata to receive profound Dharma. What do you think? Would a pig covet a beautiful Dharma seat?

The Blessed One said, "Excellent, Ananda! This Dharma of my unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is profound and sublime. Those who are wise and attached to craving cannot believe, understand, or comprehend it. Those who have already left home and call themselves ascetics cannot truly receive the teachings and discipline themselves with this Dharma. They cannot obtain the taste of nectar, but strike their hands in vain and fall into evil paths. It is like a pig abandoning a good bed. Why? Ananda, my unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is extremely pure and difficult to show, so it cannot be believed or understood. It is difficult to tame, without wisdom, difficult to satisfy, difficult to heal, destroys morality, difficult to instruct, attached to wrong teachings, practicing wrong conduct, greatly attached to the pursuit of wealth, attached to fine clothes and food, destroys rituals, destroys morality, falls into the ways of ordinary people, is wicked, lazy, has small desires, is shameless, speaks shameful words, is involved in matters of weapons, among ascetics wears ordinary clothes, among ascetics is discontented, among ascetics practices wrong paths, is not an ascetic but calls himself an ascetic, is deceived by demons, agrees with the doctrines of heretics, does not practice as taught, craves to hold much, craves idle talk, practices in accordance with the affairs of demons, confuses the lineage of demons, is afflicted by sorrow, scriptures are scattered, clings to self, clings to person, clings to sentient beings, how can a perverse person believe, understand, and comprehend my Dharma? It is absolutely impossible. Why? Ananda, my unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment is pure, vast, and satisfying, how can it be suitable for this wicked person? Ananda, it is like the vast and long realm of a three-thousand great thousand world of hundreds of thousands of billions. How can such a wicked person receive the Dharma of a monk?

The extension is also the same. Needless to say, one cannot obtain forbearance without contradiction and nirvana. Ananda, such a matter cannot be exhausted by words. The evil practitioners of the future will ultimately be extremely greedy. Extremely hateful. Extremely unbelieving. The three evils will increase, and the mind will be rough and resentful, making it difficult to subdue. Ananda, it is like burning one's own fertile field after it has matured. It is like putting poison in delicious food. If one burns down a house that has everything, is that reasonable? World Honored One, it is not reasonable. Ananda, in the future, such foolish people will take offerings under the pretext of my Dharma, but they will not believe or understand the good meaning of the Tathagata, and they will not be able to believe in such Dharma texts. They will not be able to endure the faults of truthful speech. Like a scab on a wound, if it is uncovered, it will refute my words. Such foolish people rely on the Buddha but refute the self-seeking Dharma. Ananda, at that time, in Jambudvipa, such foolish people will fill every corner. Ananda, stop for a moment! Why would such foolish and evil people want to be born, want to grow old, and want to seek evil deeds? Then, Ananda asked the Buddha: World Honored One, what is the name of this scripture? How should I respectfully uphold it? The Buddha said to Ananda: The name of this scripture is "The Treasury of the Buddha." It is also called "Diligent Shaking Practice." It is also called "The Subduing of the Discipline of Those Who Have Broken the Precepts." It is also called "Having Spoken of All Dharmas." Uphold it respectfully! Ananda, if someone recites and upholds this scripture, then the benefits obtained are immeasurable, limitless. Why? Because if a bhikkhu who has broken the precepts believes, recites, reads, and shows it to others, he will not be able to make his mind happy, let alone others. Why? Ananda, it is like an evil thief king.
