On the one hand, at this present time, I sever those sent by the evil demons, and like an arrow burned by fire, I use the path of illusion to lead them to nirvana without remainder. On the other hand, cutting off and eliminating evil and unwholesome dharmas is called practice. Furthermore, with one mind, one can believe and understand emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. In order to attain the fruits of stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, and arhat, cutting off those whose afflictions are blazing is called practice. Seeking virtuous dharmas and constantly inquiring is called practice. Furthermore, the name practice is to be able to move the mind towards liberation and to generate the mind of liberation. The dharmas that send the mind into affliction are practiced and cultivated. As the dharmas are explained, one practices and cultivates, seeking the path to Buddhahood alone. Shariputra, within the Buddha's teachings, there is such a name as practice. How does one obtain it? One obtains the stream-enterer, liberated from the three evil paths, which is called attainment. The once-returner, the non-returner, and the arhat cut off the blazing afflictions and seek the path of peace, all of which has been accomplished. Being skilled in practicing the three trainings is called learning, and I grant this person to receive offerings. Such a person receives offerings, and their virtue is to receive offerings. Shariputra, purely guarding the precepts, revealing the patrons, hearing and reciting the words of the sutras, that is the Sutra Pitaka, the Pitaka spoken in song, the Prophecy Pitaka, the Verse Pitaka, the Self-spoken Pitaka, the Nidana Pitaka, such are the dharmas of speech. Jataka Pitaka, Extensive Pitaka, Wondrous Pitaka, Avadana Pitaka. This person can also purely uphold the precepts, without flaws, without being blamed, without being defiled. In non-attachment, praised by the wisdom of freedom, able to complete the ritual himself, not contradicting like meditation, constantly abiding in meditation, such a bhikkhu who desires, I also...

It is allowed to do so. Shariputra, practicing the Dharma with body and mind, without doubt or regret, I allow such a person to sit on a high Dharma seat and preach the Dharma. Even if they are ordinary people, as long as they uphold the precepts purely, have reverence in their hearts, and are not attached to the Dharma scriptures, but are diligent with one mind, and for good deeds, do not covet the benefits of offerings, are proficient in correct explanations, and are widely learned, like a vast ocean, even if facing death, they do not tell lies, and do not crave for strife, thus benefiting both themselves and others, only explaining the pure and noble Dharma, and their actions are consistent with the Dharma they preach. Shariputra, I only allow such a person to preach the Dharma. Being able to ensure that the Dharma preached does not contradict or conflict with all the Dharma spoken by the Tathagata, that is discipline, meditation, wisdom, liberation, and liberation from knowledge and vision. Shariputra, if a Bhikshu destroys the Buddha's precepts for the sake of profit, what Dharma is there to preach? Why? Shariputra, it is said in my Dharma scriptures that if a person cannot subdue himself and cannot calm himself, yet wants to subdue others and calm others, it is impossible. For example, it is impossible for a person who is drowning in a mud pit to save others. If a person can subdue himself, calm himself, and is able to get out of the mud pit, then it is possible for him to help others. Therefore, Shariputra, I teach you to distinguish clearly. Slandering and defaming the Tathagata is a great sin. A Bhikshu who speaks the truth is worthy of preaching the Dharma. A Bhikshu who does not lie and upholds the precepts can bestow the Dharma. Shariputra, preaching the Dharma from a high seat and correctly and accurately cutting off doubts is the meaning of an inner guru. Some people uphold the precepts unclearly, have reverence in their hearts but are attached to the scriptures, this is not allowed by me. Lying, cherishing worldly pleasures, coveting the benefits of offerings, and craving for strife, these are also not allowed by me.
